Cards I already have are in the deck, the sideboard has all the cards that I thought might benefit the deck.

The most effective way to run vampires, In my opinion is to run a bunch of really cheap effective vampires with a couple different endgame ideas. A few cards I like:
Bloodghast- Powerfully recurring creature with a potential combo win (see below)
Viscera Seer- Small draw control and a sac engine
Captivating Vampire- Decent lord effect and creature steal
Gatekeeper of Malakir- Great removal especially against shroud/hexproof creatures
Pulse Tracker- Efficient Damage that goes through even when blocked
Stromkirk Noble- Amazing 1 drop... the best vampire in innistrad period
Vampire Nighthawk- Amazingly efficient flier
Anyway, this is what I feel would be a decent modern Vampire Deck (pre playtesting that is). Hope it helps.

what No Vampire Nocturnus in that list?? Isn't he still the best there is? Or Kalastria Highborn, another very powerfull vampire. To bad Dark depths isn't modern legal.

If you're making a modern vampire deck without vampire hexmage, you're doing it wrong.

I think Vampires could prove effective in modern if you build around the sligh curve and replace burn with anti-meta removal. Pretty much pre-SOM standard vampires with a few tweaks to disrupt zoo, affinity, etc.. Also, Dark Confidant. He's the best vampire in modern ;)

Very few decks play planeswalkers in Modern and those that do will have a hard time stopping a horde of flying vampires simply beating down their walker. The only reason to run a 2/1 first strike for 2 mana is Dark Depths and that is banned. What is a 2/1 turn 2 drop compared to knight of the reliquary, Wild Nacatl, Tarmogoyf etc...

I'm sure there are a few decks Hexmage would be effective against. Most notable affinity's alt win-con with Ravager, though even that's rarely a concern. Really, if you're looking at a fast mana curve, 2-drops are going to be tight, especially if you want to run removal which is heavy in 2-cost spells for black. Already I'd want to run Dark Confidant, Bloodghast, Gatekeeper, & Victim of Night. That's 4 cards competing for the 2-slots. Hexmage is simply underwhelming by comparison.
