Oaw a cardk I have an issue. If anyone can resolve this for me or point me to the rule that covers this type of situation.

Here's the issue:
Cemetery reaper has two abilities:
Ability 1: other zombies you control get +1/+1
Ability 2: 2:manab: :symtap: exile a creature card from a graveyard: put a 2/2 zombie creature token onto the battlefield under your control.

Part 2

Mentor of the meek
Ability: whenever a creature with power 2 or less enters the battlefield under your control,you may pay:mana1: if you do, draw a card.

If I'm not mistaken I can pay 1 and draw a card, however I was told recently that I could not due to cemetery reapers 1st ability. Please help me clear this up reason being that this is a big part of one of my decks.
