Extraplanar Lens

Question about the function of Extraplanar Lens-

The card text seems to imply that if I exile a plains (or any other land) then any time I tap a land with that same name I get one extra mana of any colour that land produces. But for a 3 mana artifact, this seems a little broken. If I have 12 plains in my deck, suddenly with 1 exiled I have the equivalent of 22 plains! Am I interpreting this right?

well your interpretation of the mechanic seems correct but it's not the equivalent of having more plains in your deck, it simply makes the ones in play more efficient, at the cost of having one less land in play.
