Question on a combo

A friend and I were playing a casual game. I have a 2/2 creature out. Her plays virulent wound, which applies a -1/-1 counter to my creature and then will give me a poison counter if the creature is sent to the graveyard this turn. He then plays grim affliction, which gives my creature another -1/-1 counter and then he can proliferate. The question I have I'd the order in which both cards resolve.

Which it's the correct order? A or B?

A. Grim affliction is cast. Player proliferates. Creature is sent to graveyard. Poison counter given to me.

B. Grim affliction is cast. Creature sent to graveyard. Poison counter given to me. Player proliferates. 2nd poison counter given to me.

when grim affliction resolves a -1/-1 is put on your creature, then the proliferate resolves and only after the entire spell has resolved are state based effects checked. it is only then that the creature dies.

bottom line, the poison couter is given after the proliferate.
