liliana's caress and safe passage

My opponents has liliana's caress and plays mind sluge making me discard five cards if I play safe passage then discard five cards do I take damage since the liliana's caress says lose two life or is it still prevented I ask cause it says lose two life not u take two damage

loosing life isn't concidered damage. so safe passages does nothing.
