Mausoleum Gaurd vs. Multiple 2/2 Zombie creatures question

In a recent duel, an attack was made using multiple 2/2 Black Zombie creatures. One of the blockers, of that attack, was Mausoleum Gaurd.
Question: can the 2- 1/1 Spirit Creatures, summoned by Mausoleum Guard's death, continue to block this attack?

nope, he dies in the damage resolution step, by then it's too late to declare new blockers

All blockers are declared at once at the beginning of the declare blockers step. Once you move past that, then no new blockers may be declared.
