sapphire medallion

hi...please help to clerify the ability of sapphire medallion:
your blue spells cost :mana1: less to play

my question is:
if I want so play for example COUNTERSPELL that cost :manau::manau:...do I have to pay only :manau: because of the sapphire medallion?
or not since sapphire medallion reduce only 1xcolorless mana paycost?
