I know that for experienced players this will probably sound like a really stupid question.

I'm confused by certain cards where there is some kind of ability or bonus that can be implemented for an additional mana cost, for instance "Steel Hellkite".

:mana2: Steel Hellkite gets +1/+0 until end of turn.
:manax: Destroy each nonland permanent with converted mana cost X whose controller was dealt combat damage by Steel Hellkite this turn. Activate this ability only once each turn.

Does that mean that the first ability listed CAN be activated more than once per turn? Say if you had 8 free mana, could you activate the first ability 4 times and make "Steel Hellkite" a 9/5? Surely not right? :confused:
