Change history for deck lists

Present setup with deck lists essentially assumes that the deck one initially enters is the deck as it will forever exist.

Yes, you can add/remove cards at any time, but let's say your deck has already garnered some likes/comments and then you make a major change to the card base when a block rotates out of Standard, for example. One could argue that all the earlier likes/comments are now irrelevant.

Further--and this is an extreme outlying case--if someone wanted to totally screw with the like/comment system, they could just swap out ALL the cards from one of their popular decks for total crap. That move alone renders the like/comment count totally misleading.

Solution:

Log deck changes. Show the most recent incarnation by default when viewing a deck, but also provide a link to view past iterations.

Bonus points if...

...Likes and Comments get timestamped and can be traced back to a particular deck iteration.

This has an added perk: Deck owners would be able to compare their Like accumulation over time to deck iterations. More Likes for iteration Y than X, therefore deck change was an improvement. Fewer Likes for iteration Y than X, therefore deck change was a step backwards.

This is actually a great suggestion.

I love this idea, it would take some work to do but I do love it! I think we could come up with a clever interface to show the history including the point at which likes are added so, like you said, a deck owner could see what changes brought in the likes/comments. A "timeline" of a deck's history if you like.

I might jot down how the data would be recorded so we can at least start logging data, even if we don't get the timeline done straight away.

Great suggestion! :)
