Modern Deck Development
B/G Modern Rock
Hi there, here is my version of Rock deck, with the recently added Scavenging Ooze. I think it could have an improvement, especially in the offensive capacity of the deck and creature selection. Tks for comment!

P.S: Tarmogoyf, Thoughtseize, and splashing White (for Doran or Path to Exile) is not an option i manage, cause the cost in money they could significate. Of course, the problem to splash another color is about the lands. Also, Dark Confidant is expensive, but not include it is related to have high mana cost cards and the life lost could be huge, so i run Phyrexian Arena instead, plus it´s harder to remove.

you play 9 1 mana discard cards main board, that's A LOT. Playing discard turn 1 is nice but every turn thereafter it becomes less and less effective (unless you are playing against combo but you have a sideboard for that) and drawing into discard midgame is really bad.
Against decks that have Deathrite Shaman and Goyf (= most decks) it's going to be really problematic because they have a huge creature fast while you keep drawing into discard when what you really need is removal. Also your discard fuels their goyf and shaman. Not to mention graveyard based strategies that don't care about your discard.
Play mainboard hate against goyfs and shamans, Relic of Progenitus for instance is so good (in legacy at least so I presume it's good in modern too) against so many decks that you can play it mainboard.
Also know that while phyrexian arena is an excellent card in multiplayer formats it's not that great in competative play because 3 mana is a lot, it's an important turn to sacrifice on playing 1 card that doesn't have an immediate effect. And now with abrupt decay many decks have a mainboard way of removing it easily.
You could test a card like Lead the Stampede as a replacement (just thinking out loud here), it would require a larger creature count but that might not be a bad thing. You can play Tidehollow Sculler to replace some of your spell based discard and Shriekmaw to replace spot removal. Trying to combine functionality with a creature body. Lead the stampede would probably net you more cards then Arena. Try to find good cards that are not played rather then to find bad alternatives for expensive cards that are played.
I also see that your mana requirements for your creatures are high. If you are going to be playing slower creatures then your opponents do not try to race them because you will lose. Sweep the board instead, play control early on and move your creature plan to the midgame. That way your creatures won't be just bad versions of their creatures. They will be superior creatures that exist in a different stage of the game and they will dominate that stage if your deck can make you survive that long.
If you can't affort to play what everyone else is playing then don't play what everyone else if playing. Attack the meta, build to fight their plan of attack and find yourself a different tactic. There are plenty of cards in the card pool, all you need to do is go over all of them and think.

Tks for the advices!. I made some changes with cards i already have, but needed to be tested yet. I think you were right several ways, the 1 cmc discard was more to refiil the curve 1 and have more chances to get them in open hand. But in midgame (that is the Rock game) is far more useless. The reason to make a Rock is that i was a Rock player several years ago, so i have a preference of it, and is quite fun. I play local tournaments, most for fun, and casual game too, so i try to make it competitve, but affordable in money cost.
About the changes, i put out, 2 Despise, 1 Duress, 1 Tombstalker (without the cheap cmc cards is more difficult to hit the battlefield early), and 2 Preadator Oose (it take several turns to get big for itself and 3g is not easy sometimes). I add, 2 Damnation (for blowing the field if needed, specially if playing agains´t tokens) and 4 Eternal Witness (for recursion, and possibly a blocker, 2X1 sometimes). The changes are oriented for control and functionality purposes.

Kitchen Finks is also a bomb card to consider. Hitting the green seems like it'd be simple enough with your deck.
