Life loss question
I can't quite reason this out, so if you know the answer please help me. Is an effect that mentions "loses life" considered damage? This may seem like a stupid question to some of you, but I just like to get my specifics straight. For example, if someone played the card Sanguine Bond, would I be able to prevent that loss of life with Battletide Alchemist's ability?

"losing life" and "damage" are two separate effects
while taking damage does result in loss of life....spells or abilities that cause a direct loss of life are not affected by things that prevent damage and do not trigger effects based on taking damage.
so in this case: no, the Battletide Alchemist would not be able to prevent the loss of life from a Sanguine Bond
