[ICD] Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker

(IDC stands for Individual Card Discussion)

Nicol Bolas, Planewalker 4UBBR

+3 Destroy target noncreature permanent.
-2 Gain control of target creature.
-9 Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker deals 7 damage to target player. That player discards 7 cards, then sacrifices 7 creatures.

Thoughts? Concerns? Deck Ideas?

In my opinon, he will be hard to get out, due to his mana cost of 8, but if a 5 color control deck can hit him out, he will be a huge pain.

I feel the same way randomryan does. Will be hard to get out but if you do that just sucks for the other player.

I don't feel that plainswalkers are going to be a huge threat bc all you nee to to is direct damage them with shocks or other cards like that (as long as it can target and opponenet) and it will take counters off/kill it. too protect them you may have to load up on cancels and stuff to keep them alive.

Also when it says one ability per turn for those, can you use one when your attack turn is up and then when you are defending. I was thinking this for Elspeth, Knight-Errant. you bring out a 1/1 soldier token +1 for you, someone attacks with flying creature or any creature for that matter, then you play the other ability for +1 for the +3/+3 flying until end of turn. I'm assuming no because it says 1 per turn so you would have to do it only one time either attacking or blocking...

I have a Elspeth, Knight-Errant and Sarkhan Vol which seem pretty cool but i haven't totaly figured out how i'm going to keep them alive once they are out. i can use a lot of small token creatures to block non-flying creatures but spells could be a problem lol...

Yeah, we should totally do a thread dedicated to Sarkhan Vol, because he is cheap and isn't really that hard to build a deck around...

I'm actually surprised that SV hasn't gotten put in any RG aggro decks that i've seen. He's a good idea imho. Well, this thread's about Bolas, so I might as well toss my opinion out: he's great....but you have to cast him. It seems like hardcasting him would leave you waaay too vulnerable (even 5cc), so why not put him into play another way. Maelstrom Archangel comes to mind...
