Quietus Spike on Kor Duelist
Question: How would this work?
Kor Duelist Attacks equipped with Quietus Spike.
Oppenent Declares a defender.
1st Strike Attack occurs with deathtouch? - Creature dies?
2nd attack occurs to oppenent? - Oppenent Life - 1 = 19 - Half = 9?
I'm kinda stumped on how double strike and deathtouch work.
Thanks for the help!

The thing with first strike is that if your opponent blocks you, you do not get to carry on to do direct damage.
And yes I believe a creature with first strike and death touch would always live.

also, for the half damage thing, if Kor Duelist connects, fun times happen.
let's assume Kor Duelist is just equipped with Quietus Spike, for argument's sake.
1. Kor Duelist hits the defending player with first strike damage (20-19). the Ability on quietus spike triggers and resolves (19-9)
2. Kor Duelist hits the defending player with regular damage (9-8). The ability on quietus spike triggers again and resolves (8-4). Your little 1/1 just did 2 damage and made them lose 16 life in total.
Edit: I goofed and forgot that the life loss is rounded up, not down. It's fixed now.

the life lost is rounded up so after the first strike the opponent would be down to 9 (19/2 = 9.5, rounded up that's 10, 19 - 10 = 9) and then after the second strike he'd be at 4

you know, I need to stop doing rulings when I'm half-asleep. You're right, and I'm gonna fix that post.
