Does this work?

Say I enchant a Forest with Genju of the Cedars. Then pay :mana2: to make it a 4/4 creature. Can I then enchant that creature with Rancor?

What happens afterwards? Because the creature will become a land again at the end of the turn, will Rancor go to the graveyard, thus returning to the owner's hand?

Yep, it's a creature, you can enchant it. I've turned a forest into a 4/5 and dropped an Asha's Favor on it and then equipped it with a manaforce mace. Equipment falls off and stays on the field, enchantments dissipate.
