This deck tries to answer the question: why add red at all to the perfectly capable (and likely still capable going in GRN) UW control?In my view control decks with red tend to fair better in the control vs. control matchup. Red has a lot of tricks and tools that really punish control players that lead to incremental advantages that add up by the end, i.e. Ionize, Squee, Niv-Mizzet. Red has Lava Coil, which can deal with just about any creature before turn 4 including the dreaded Steel-Leaf Champion. It also gives us access to Beacon Bolt, which is firmly on the "trial-run" side of things, but I think it could be solid should we get enough instants and sorceries into the grave.Response // Resurgence might seem a weird choice but it's honestly just a better Gideon's Reproach. The Response part, anyway.Expansion adds a bit of flexibility to your casts and Explosion means a big late-game swing. I only want one since we should get through the deck well enough, and I've noticed in various chances to play with the card it has a bad tendency to sit in the hand for a long while. But I can't say no to value.The deck does look like UW control that sideboards into Jeskai shenanigans but who knows? Worth a shot.
