Deck Description

Dragons! It looks like blue and red got the best dragons in this set, with Thunderbreak Regent and Icefall Regent both being very powerful cards. Add that to the already present Stormbreath Dragon and you've got potential for a UR dragon themed deck! What I like about this deck is that the Dragons are perfectly powerful creatures on their own outside of their creature type, but the minor tribal element in Dragon Tempest and Thunderbreak do wonders for the deck. Add that with some strong control cards and you've got a nasty deck.

How to Play

This is a midrange deck, albeit one that is a little high on curve in threats. Stratus Dancer will give you some early power and utility, and you may set up the Dragon Tempest early, but other than that the first few turns of the game for you will be largely passive. Turn 4 is when things start to heat up with Thunderbreak Regent. A large threat that lightning bolts something when you try to deal with it is powerful, and always makes the opponent uncomfortable. Follow that up with some aggro from Stormbreath or some board control with Icefall and you've got a solid set up.

Deck discussion for UR Dragon Midrange

This deck is very creative! Usually I associate R/U with control but I think you did a great job!

Well thanks! I too associate U/R with control (hell, that's a deck I usually try to play) but I saw a more janky/combo-y version of this deck on Channel Fireball and decided to make it more like a solid midrange with a dragon shtick. Can't wait to play it!
