Deck Description

RG Aggro with a burn twist in the sideboard. Accepting advice :) just nothing from SoM please, I won't have this fully made before it cycles out...

Thanks again to everyone who helped me make front page!

EDIT: less burn..now it's just aggro...lots of wolf cards :D

Deck discussion for Burning Aggression

This is a great deck in and of itself, it think the burn is a little unnecessary. Meta being what it, aggro is really good by itself, and if it ain't broke don't fix it. Take out the burn stuff and put some more aggro stuff in.

The burn makes it more versatile. I've faced control decks that make the combat phase pointless, and the burn is my way around that. However, I think I'll move some of it to the sideboard for champion of lambholt... Soulbound to a silverheart, the token deck is now obselete :P thanks for commenting :)

The only card I would really considering adding to this is Kessig Cagebreakers. Well, also replacing Fling with Lightning Bolt.

wow this is pretty brutal. i have a friend of mine in my area who runs a deck very close to this... he is very cheap with it...

It's especially brutal when you soulbind a champion to a silverheart, and unless your opponent has a 6/6, they're screwed >:) any suggestions though?

Rotation, considering from the cycle out until gatecrash there won't be many rg cards. It's gonna have to be like this until gruul comes back out, and I'll probably be able to use this deck most in november, before gatecrash.

well i think u r pretty well set up for it. to answer ur q about huntmaster, i think its worth it depending on ur deck. hes a great utility creature yes, but i think he is limited at the same time. personaly i think its over rated too. but thats just me.

Seeing as you have birds and llanowar elves I don't think you need borderland ranger, you could add (call me crazy) a predator ooze. It gets bigger quick and is indestructible and is a 3-drop to replace ranger

Thanks, I'll definitely consider that. :)

didnt you just comment on my deck on how to specifically deal with this deck ;)
it looks very strong. my friend plays it and he has thrunn the last troll who is just an absolute annoyance, in my opinion if you have the money too buy the playset of huntmaster you should, he is always going too be a brilliant card in werewolves, and i think he is worth the investment, have you thought about acidic slime at all?

thanks again for you comment on my deck

That's how you know it was good advice! :P
Yes I believe I will buy the huntmaster. :) I have also considered Thrun, but I won't be making it to many tournaments before he cycles out... And yes I have thought about the slime, I was going to squeeze it in somewhere but I forgot to, thanks for the reminder!

No problem, if you have any more standard decks that you need advice on let me know :)

I just noticed this now but you have 3 brimstone volleys in sideboard when you have 3 main deck >_>

Lol I switched them over to the maindeck for color balance and never took them out of the sideboard, I'm not too worried about the sideboard right now. That's going to change a lot more than the deck itself, so I just wanna get that all straightened out first. :)

Huntmasters are okay, but surely they aren't worth their price. You could very well replace them with something else, like the cagebreakers and maybe one or two cards to ramp faster - it's aggro after all.
For the rest the deck looks great as it is. Good work sir

I think I'm gonna buy them, for a 4 drop they really do get a lot done. I also think I'll add more ramp haha thank you sir

Seems a solid deck, i'm liking it!

I dunno, I think Huntmaster fit the theme pretty good, they seem a better option than Kessig Cagebreakers imo, even better if u found a way to bounce them Huntmasters a little.

I would also recommend Searing spear or Thunderous Wrath instead of Brimstone Volley.

Borderland ranger hasn't impressed me so far, but I guess its hard to get a better replacement in standard. I've prefered Dawntreader Elk instead of him though..both surve its purpose.

I'd need some professional advice with a standard deck I've built around Splinterfright and Kessig Cagebreakers among others, wanna help me out? I'm kinda new into standard, but the more I get to into it the more I seem to like it.

The burn and The wolfir avenger really help me get the full use out of huntmaster, allowing me to play nothing on my turn and everything on the opponents turn, allowing him to transform. It works nicely :)

Thunderous wrath is next on my list, thanks!

as far as the ranger goes, he's better than the elk for this deck simply because you get to keep the creature. Yeah, it's slower, but you still get a land and a 2/2.

Of course I'll look at your deck :)

A point to remember: M12 cycles out the same day Scars does. SO, unless you're in the camp that believes Birds are coming out with RtR (I refuse to speculate until I see spoilers) than you'll need to replace those. :) Arbor Elves or Scorned Villager ("Little Red" at my store) may work. Or just straight up ramp spells.

I like your curve, but a few Evolving Wilds Might not hurt. A little more mana fixing never hurt anyone. lol

Im not sure if it'll be reprinted, I'm just being optimistic, lol. If it isn't and now good early ramp comes with RtR, little red seems like a good choice to me, thanks :)

Dude really nice deck. This thing looks scary! You might want to consider Geist Flame / Gut Shot in the side board as opposed to the two flings. I would side those in against other agro / ramp decks that are pumping out the turn one Champion of the Parish, Delver of Secrets, Birds of Paradise, etc.
Really nice deck tho:p

0
Posted 03 August 2012 at 23:52

Thanks man, my biggest problem will probably be any sort of control that bounces creatures. Flings are better to do more damage when faced with a terminus or banishing stroke. I'd rather do damage and lose a creature than just lose a creature :P thanks though, any decks you want me to comment on let me know :)

oh and your missing Copperline Gorge, and don't you dare say "I am not going to run it because it's cycling" don't make your deck a miserable failure because you won't buy some god damn lands cause you lose them in a couple months. and searing spear? why Incinerate is Standard right now and Wolfir Avenger is a threat.

-1

Obviously there is a standard red deck that doesn't run them because I refuse to spend $30 on one card...

I don't even actually have the crags yet, if I get them soon i might consider buying the gorges. If not, Oh well, I'm patient, I can wait for Ravnica. And from the other reception that this deck has received, it doesn't seem like a "miserable failure" to me.

budget friendly decks don't function competitively I eat decks like these in FNM every friday. Either pay for the much needed cards or get recoreds like 1/7 every FNM.

Manofwar is correct I use delver and this deck wouldent make it past tern four 2-0 easy! listen magic is a vary expensive game its buy the cards or go home.

-1

1. I never said it was a budget deck, I said $30 for a card is ridiculous.
2. I'm going to buy more dual lands, I'm just patient enough to wait a little bit.
3. Just because I play a game doesn't mean I base my life around it. I am only 16, and I have stuff to do and aspirations to achieve, I'd rather not waste my life putting all of my money into a game.

I'm looking for advice, not a cocky douche insulting me and my deck, which I've put a lot towards. Either change your attitude to be helpful and reasonable, or don't comment on my decks. The purpose of the site, I assume, is to help people share and improve, not to be a discouraging asshole.

Also, Forestfire, I "wouldent" take advice from someone who can't even type proper English...I suggest you take your delver and delve deep into a dictionary before you try to act like you're better than somebody else. You seem "vary" unintelligent to me right now.

Hey there, like the deck. Yet another great permutation of the wolfir meta stratagem. Red burn really does take things to a more malleable level. I see the addition of strangleroot geist, and I see it often in wolfir decks, can you tell me why? Also, not sure but have considered abundant growths to thin out the deck and mana fix? You could splash colors in, like how I do with mine.

I have a g/u wolfir deck that plays a little similarly, and im looking for some feedback, if you can spare the time. Thanks!

Thanks. Lots of aggressive green decks use the geist because he is quick turn 2 damage, and because once he dies you have to deal with him again. Lay down a forest and a birds on turn 1, forest and a geist with a rancor on turn 2, and your enemy might poop a little. Effectively, that's 9 power to worry about on turn 2

sure I'll go check it out

...what does the Bird do here?.. ...it's not standard legal...

Daybreak Ranger is a sideboard type of card & Cagebrakers isn't a good one... ...I'd rather use Thragtusk, even if the curve get's a little higher with it...

...some cards that would be nice here: Nightshade Peddler, Strangleroot Geist(mainboard) - I have no idea what good would it do in your sideboard... .., Ulvenwald Tracker, Predator Ooze...
