Making a Mono Black deck that's standard is not hard! I made Undying and Exalted mono black standard decks. In fact, I can't really help you because there are so many different possible mono black decks that I don't know where to start.
Do you have any requirements or any preferences?

I like the look of this deck.
I think you should take out Codex Shredder, Pilfered Plans, and Mindcrank. I strongly suggest you make discard your top priority. One card that works with any discard deck is Liliana's Caress. Another card that follows the discard pattern is Shrieking Affliction. One thing I notice about this deck is the fact that you need your creatures to connect before you can get anyone to discard. No Problem! Take a look at these cards.

Funeral Charm
Piracy Charm
Ghost form
Writ of Passage
Artfull Dodge

All of these cards can either make creatures stronger, make them unblock-able, or force a discard. Then when your opponent is discarding 3 cards a turn, simply play Dream Salvage.

Actually Gather the Townsfolk can trigger it as well. However, I still agree with Muktol, Either take out Honor of the pure and but in Thraben Doomsayer, or take out Mentor of the Meek and stick in Elite Inquisitor.

P.s. something with Battalion might work.

Take out the Altar's Reap. It really only helps if you have expendable creatures. Otherwise you're just trading two cards and two mana for two more cards. You can put in two Nighthawks and two swamps. Or.......... you can put in more Artifacts ;-)

That's a good call! I already put in Hell rider. But what should I take out for Havoc Festival?

Oh and Thrull Parasite can remove counters for your undying creatures.

Aha! Clever! Also I think you can Devour Flesh him when his ETB triggers. You may like Altar's Reap, works well with undying or any weak card and it can also work with Pit Dweller.

Maybe you should put in Stab Wound for One Thousand Lashes. It's a little bit easier to play and extort. Plus it does a little more damage. Also please look and comment on my extort deck.

Try Obzedat, Ghost Council instead of Ghost Council of Orzhov. Even though it doesn't work with Blood Artist, you get to do more damage without sacrificing a creature.

Basically keep your opponent from doing anything until you get two or three extort creatures. Then you use extort on your opponents until they die. There are plenty of answers to whatever is thrown at you. All you have to do is react accordingly. If you can get your opponent to stop attacking then you pretty much win. Stall as much as you can. Then when they run out of options just slowly pick away at there life until they die.

p.s. One of the best ways to win with an extort deck is to watch him many cards your opponent(s) have. Generally you should never have less cards in your hand than your opposition.

p.p.s. If you don't hear them sigh or grumble even once, you're doing it wrong.

I'm Thinking it's fine on the sideboard. Just make sure you let him see some action against red and blue decks ;-)

Yes Soul Tithe is actually a really nice card to consider putting in. My only advise is to use it mid game. Use it too early and they'll let the permanent go. Use it too late and they may prefer to keep whatever monstrosity they have. Besides they probably won't have as many cards in their hand left to play.

OK Here goes. This is my deck list for you. This deck is catered to fit your requirements.

Artifact (2)
2x Orzhov Keyrune

Creature (22)
4xBasilica Guards
4xBasilica Screecher
4xDutiful Thrull
1xTeysa, Envoy of Ghosts
4xTrained Caracal
2xTreasury Thrull
3xVizkopa Guildmage

Enchantment (14)
3xBlind Obedience
3xEthereal Armor
4xOblivion Ring
4xPacifism

I don't have the land count but it should be more Plains than Swamps. If you are really crazy about Blind Obedience, feel free to put in one more for an Ethereal Armor. Unlike my Extort deck, this deck should do better against faster decks. You should play very defensively and save your control cards for creatures with flying. If you want to know why I didn't include certain cards, read on. Otherwise stop here.

Didn't include
----------------
Jayemdae Tome - To expensive Mana Wise
Guardian Lions - To expensive Mana Wise
Knight of Obligation - To expensive Mana Wise
Syndicate Enforcer - To expensive Mana Wise
Debt to the Deathless - To expensive Mana Wise
Merciless Eviction - To expensive Mana Wise
Purge the Profane - To expensive Mana Wise
High Priest of Penance - Prefer Oblivion Ring
Kingpin's Pet - Prefer Basilica Screecher - One less mana for only one less power.
One Thousand Lashes - Prefer Stab Wound. In fact, you may want to main board it. Won Countless games from it.
Angelic Edict - Prefer Oblivion Ring

The rest didn't really help the strategy or should be side-boarded.
Consider Blood Baron of Vizkopa, really hard to deal with.

Sorry it took so long to reply :)

take a look at my Extort Deck if you have the time.
