Deck Description

A deck around the new hotness of Grief vs. Ephemerate.
I think the true potential of this card insn't unlocked yet.
Is it better in a 8rack shell? Or in a hand control deck, starting with Thoughszise on turn 1? is Dauthi Voidwalker needed to avoid graveyard value from the discard and potentially steal something amazing?

This deck rather focuses on the blink aspect. With 3 Cloudshift and 3 Soulherder and enough flicker targets.

How to Play

Tidehollow Sculler is another good blink target with those flicker instants if the triggers are stacked appropriately.

Stoneforge Mystic grabs what ever is needed. Equipments for protection of any color but black. Batterskull for lifelink and a body, Kaldra Compleat as finisher, Sword of Fire and Ice for card draw and Sword of Hearth and Home for even more blinking.
I heavily consider Poet's Quill as another tutor target. Black for Grief, Lifelink for recovery or even a tiny learn board.

The rest of the creatuers a basically Wall of Omens. I felt like Yarok's Fenlurker is a bit too much discarding. I wanted some more black value. 4 Dusk Legion Zealot together with all the Fetch - Shock - Silent Clearing damage add up. I replced 2 with Callous Bloodmage for the same effect, but with the option Pest or graveyard hate.

Deck discussion for Sad Flicker Blade

Ross merriman recently covered a grief build with Priest of Fell Rites and Soulherder( which you have).
[[glasspool mimic]] was also mentioned.

The use of kaldra compleat was argued that the cost was too high unless you were sure to get stoneforger into play, but imperial recruiter was part of an incentive to play kaldra, so kaldra might be too heavy for esper.

I think you may have too many equipments here. I would go down to just Kaldra Compleat and Sword of Fire and Ice in the main board. Batterskull can stick around in the sideboard and come in place of Kaldra when you need a more lifegain based approach (or if you find that maybe you need the vigilance). Sword of Hearth and Home isn't worth the slot in my opinion. Soul herder fills the role of blinking once a turn and you'd rather not spend resources blinking stoneforge mystic just to get another equipment. I would also run Priest of Fell Rites as wickeddarkman suggested. Maybe swap it for the Tidehollow Skuller as it doesn't give you permanent card pressure on your opponent. Priest can return grief though which will then permanently remove the card giving you a better advantage, but its also able to return other things like Solitude or even a countered/removed stoneforge mystic giving it a lot more versatility.

I haven't playtested it, but it seems like you might flood on blink instants slightly. If you're only running two Solitude I don't think you need 3 cloudshift. I would either go for two, or go up to 3 Solitude and run 4 grief 3 solitude 4 ephemerate 3 cloudshift.

I'm not sure the Callous Bloodmage or Dusk Legion Zealot really fit. I think you've got them in here for card advantage, but they seem a bit too heavy to me just for that. I would consider investing a little more into blue for some cantrips like Opt Serum Visions Baleful Strix [[Archmage\'s Charm]] or Jace, the Mind Sculptor. Baleful Strix is particularly good because it synergizes with your blink theme. ETB triggers are what you want to thrive off of.
