Deck discussion for *INFECT*

I would recommend going with either blue or green with infect. Blue if you want more control or green if you want more damage.

3 abilities can work well in conjunction with this deck in order to maximize your infect-y-ness.

1 - Proliferate - You already have a creature with it, but there are better proliferate cards out there.

Contagion Engine, Contagion Clasp, and Inexorable Tide are great cards for this.

2 - First strike/double strike - If an infecty creature has first strike, it will reduce the amount of damage it takes from an opposing creature, and double strike means more counters faster.

Consider: Sword of Vengeance, Fireshrieker, Power Matrix, Helm of Kaldra, Akroma's Memorial

3 - Evasion (protection, flying, etc...) - If an opponent can't block your creatures they will quickly succumb to poison.

Consider cards like: Riding the Dilu Horse, Sleeper's Robe, Mask of Riddles, Canopy Cover, Shimmering Wings, Infiltrator's Magemark, Whispersilk Cloak, Distortion Strike, Cloak of Mists, Artful Dodge

Other good cards to think about

Hand of the Praetors, Necroskitter, Kulrath Knight, Needle Spectre

Great Combos: Everlasting Torment + Melira, Sylvok Outcast = You can't die
Crumbling Ashes + Bowfly Infestation = Massive Creature Distruction EVERY TURN! This combo can work against you, but it usually results in destroying all your opponents creatures first. By the time it starts hitting you, your opponent should be dead from infect.

Also, infecting creatures with regenerate make for excellent defenders.

Hi Beowulf, I have been reading alot of your comments, and you seem to know what your talking about. would you mind having a look at my combo deck here and help me figure out how to speed up my combos. especialy my second one, as its a four card (one land) combo.

If its not to much trouble, id really appreciate it, thanks.

Thrumming bird an awesome creature to have in an infect deck, I agree with Beowulf and what he said.

Try using quicksilver amulet to free up some of your mana, and to play your bigger infect creatures earlier and cheaper. also i woud consider lure, or even irresistable prey to be used in conjuction with reaper of shelodred.

Some cards I would drop for his recomendations are:

-essence arvest, its basically an expensive way to gain 5 life in this deck as I am assuming your win condition is poison counters. if you want cheap 5 life gain use elixer of immortality.

-drop viral drake for thrummingbird, its the same ability, but free especialy if you add cards like whispersilk. and the creature is far cheaper, so you can start proliferating sooner.

-flensermite shoud also be dropped, i think there are far better cards you could include, like contagion engine/clasp or even intoxerable tide like Beowulf suggested.

I hope this helps you out a little. :)

note- corrupted conscience could be dropped too, as you have plenty of infect already, maybe another 2 murder for removal.

I think you should make it a blue and green deck, and with the black cards being gone you can fit in things like gigadrowse and boomerang. think of using green to buff your creatures and blue to make your creatures get past blockers.
I'd stick to the cheaper infect creatures, maybe a few expensive ones like the swarmlord, but late game you want to be casting big creature buff spells or things to tap blockers or return them to their owner's hands. As nice as having Cancel might be, i think you'd do better with more tap/return spells. consider Flood, Gigadrowse, and Boomerang.

I'd even take out the cantagion clasp and engine for 4 giant growths. they're cheaper and realisticlly will probably put more poison counters on opponents. I'd definitely have 4 blighted agents. turn 2 unblockable, turn 3 use some giant growths or a monsterous growth
