Deck Description

Hey everyone, this is my first Modern deck. For the past couple months of playing, I've done kitchen table standard stuff with Green/Red Midrange, and Red/Black Devotion.

After seeing so many people play insanely good decks in pro tours, and seeing too many deck tech videos, I thought it would be fun to craft a new deck from scratch and to try out some new stuff.

It's pretty much Golgari with a splash of White to get some nice Selesnya and Orzhov bonuses into it. I'm more than open to any criticism and advice, but please remember that I'm still rather new and I'm not super experienced with Golgari and Orzhov stuff.

EDIT: May 2014

Playtested it against a bunch of people and made changes. The Quillspike/Devoted Druid combo never really worked out so I took them both out. I moved Sin Collector, and Gift of Orzhova into the main board to take out early stuff in my opponent's hand and to make the trolls harder to take out.

I also added in some Oppresive Rays for a little control action, as well as Appetite for Brains as well.

Also added in an Ajani. I got him at prerelease and he seems to fit rather well with my Trolls.

How to Play

Pretty much aggro with a low mana curve. Get the Lotleth Trolls out and start doing their thing. I also really like how Dreg Mangler has haste so I'm hoping to get at least one out early in the game.

Sin Collector, Appetite for Brains, Oppresive Rays moved to main board to get rid of stuff earlier on to make my life a hell of a lot easier.

Also threw in an Ajani since his Plus 1 abilities both work well in the deck.

I included as many different removal spells in my sideboard to swap out depending on the matchup.

Deck discussion for B/W/G Junk Aggroish

Nice deck, I'd try and keep things on a more 3 of and 4 of basis if you aren't frequently seeing what you want when you draw. "Giant Growth" rocks but a more versatile card would be Vines of Vastwood, especially since the meta you're playing in is full of "Path to Exile" and "Lighting Bolt" to say the least. With the mana your deck wields, it should not be hard to "Kick" it for the pump.

Thanks for the feedback. To be honest, I've done a lot of play testing since first putting this up and didn't document the changes at the time. I took out a bunch of stuff and added stuff in (Hell yes Scry lands) to play faster. I've also been deliberating the idea of getting my hands on a couple copies of Gaddok Teeg to shift favour towards me in some control matchups.

Vines of Vastwood looks absolutely insane. I'm definitely going to get my hands on a playset of them. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
