The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

Well this is my first deck, I loaded it with what I think would fit my aggressive controlling play style. Please comment and give tips because I'm still new to MTG and don't really know much.

Deck discussion for HELP ! BEGINNER MTG PLAYER !

74 cards may be a little much for this deck unless you're playing super casual. personally i have a 250 card casual deck, which i actually enjoy playing, but if you want to play competitively, start cutting and bringing this down to 60. next we can discuss the mana curve: honestly its pretty good in terms of low and high in general, but you may want to try and switch out some of your 2 costing spells for some 1 mana spells so you can actually play first turn lol. but again, that depends on competitive you are playing. overall not a bad deck for a beginner. well done :)

also, for being a blue and white "control" deck, you are shockingly low on control spells. cards like Oblivion Ring and really any kind of counter would really help you "control" the field. 2 unsummons just aren't gonna cut it in terms of control =/ Also I'm a little curios on why you chose landfall cards without any kind of fetch lands. landfall is most useful with cards that allow you to drop more than one land at a time such as fetch lands that allow you to play a land, then sac it to play another, thus double triggering landfall. Without double triggering, landfall can actually be quite inefficient in what you're using. For instance, you have a 4 mana 2/2 with flying in here that gets +2/+2 with landfall. assuming you drop land once every 3 turns (on average) you're paying 4 mana for a 2/2 that's a 4/4 every 3 turns. Honestly there's better out there that you can drop for 4 mana. Just gotta look. :)

When you say fetch land, you mean like panoramas and such right? Sorry, I'm lacking in variety of cards due to the fact that I'm still a beginner but I think I can manage finding some cards that cause double triggering. Thanks for the tips ! I appreciate it !

to say the least u have to many singles and there is very little control u need to find more copies of card rather then singles it make it better at getting them rather then a 1 in 75 chances in getting them and on the control cards like Cancel,Mana Leak, Stotic Rebuttal (spelling) ,Negate just to name a few are some u need to have a good counter deck and some creatures do it too,,,,, jsut take your time and dont rush making your deck for me i did the same thing when i started but that was in 93 ........ it takes at least a month or two of testing and ect u have all the time in the world to make a deck ...... but most impotant HAVE FUN

First things would be to go for a more focused deck. Trying to get cards that play togehter well and increasing them from 1-2x to 3-4x. This will give you better probability of getting your combos.

I would take out cards like Cloudheath Drake, Living Tsunami, Outrider of Jhess just because they are very expensive to play, and their abilities require lots of mana or take away from your mana source. However, that said, living tsunami could be okay to gurantee you a land for Landfall. It would be better to just have more cards like ponder and flow of ideas. Drawing cards will easily get you those lands.
Would still go for cards that cost less. if a card has a mediocre ability I wouldn;t pay more than 1 converted mana for a 1/1 and 2 for a 2/2. if it had flying then 3 mana for a 2/2 isn't bad.

Also would take out defenders if you are going for an aggresive build.

Exalted, is only good if you want to attack with only one creature. Doing that, its easy for your opponenet to block with a crappy creature, destroy yours with a spell, or nullify damage.
Battle cry would be alot better. using cards like Accorder Paladin
Flanking also would work better for aggression.

I like the phantom warriors and would put more in. I can see how this would be good for exalted while defending with walls, but as it is, jsut the one isn't enough to rely on that gameplan (still wouldn't do it, see above).

You are using white, which is good for pumping creatures up and life gain, if would be ncie to see some creatures or enchantments that give bonus to power. some cheap ones are "holy strength"

Also some oblivion rings and counterspells would do wonders to make sure your opponent has a weak defense which would allow you to swing unopposed.

What everyone means by 'fetch' lands is cards like: Marsh Flats, Misty Rainforest, Arid Mesa, Scalding Tarn (Those are all of the expensive ones) and there is also: Teramorphic Expanse and Evolving Wild (these are about 0.25 cents). They work really well with the landfall guys.

I agree with the others in saying that you should drop it down to 60 cards.

and adding controllish cards like Mana leak, Cancel, and deprive would work well.
Deprive would also help you out with your landfall.

if you want an aggressive control i'd suggest a rush artifact. that does the job very well but is in general fairly expensive for most beginners (though i think a deck worth 75 or less isn't that expensive if it does the job :P)

What I see here is an extremely spread out deck that doesn't really have a focus. I'd suggest trying to find what kind of deck you want to play (artifact control, artifact rush, ally, control stall, counter, flying, swarm, etc.) and then building a deck focusing on that strategy. I'd give tips on the kind of cards you would need but I don't know what kind of deck you want to run.

i would say first try to find a common goal with this deck, where all of your cards matter. second i would say add multiples of your best cards so you have a chance to get them more. also make your deck into a 60ish card deck with at least 20-24 mana. add dual lands if your making a multicolored deck too this will help.
