The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck Description

This is my blue/red deck. It is pretty standard but some critics to improve it would be very welcome.

Deck discussion for UR Twin

Thanks for the comment! I love the mana curve here.

I'm assuming that you're not making this standard since you have the Izzet Boilerworks... I would highly suggest Steam Vents instead. And if you actually are trying to keep this standard before Innistrad, use Scalding Tarns! I don't know if you're trying to avoid those because of the price, but they are definitely crucial. If you can get your hands on them, use all 8!

Mental Misstep is another great counter. And Spellskites can help protect your Deceivers! I hope that helps!

I was avoiding Steam Vents because they cost 21€ and scalning tarns (12€). They're very expensive. Maybe I buy them later ;)

Spellskite I think is a great sugestion.

Thanks!

Deceiver Exarch + splinter twin = Infinite damage.

actually if ur opponent has soul warden or soul's (attendant?) they'll gain just as much life and if they have suture priest then you will lose from splinter twin + deciever exarch if you use it too many times. dismember would be a good answer to those cards

how bout negate or spell pierce over dispel.

Dispel deals better with the threats that can target my creature (instants that kill creatures) and is very cheap.
Thanks a lot for the suggestions anyways ;)

It's not original, It's been floating around since Deceiver Exarch was printed.

here as promised as its been pointed out spellskite would be a good edition to help protect your splinter twins, and creature !, and as you have shrine of piercing vision you could play shrieking drake bounce him back and forth using his own ability to load your shrine up.

i appreciate that you may be on a budget for your lands but you really should consider some that dont come into play tapped.

I like the idea of shrieking drake . Thanks.

About steam vents I might consider to buy a couple now and a couple later... I know they're very good...

if not standard then why not have pestermite, and kiki-jik mirror breaker, it will allow you to have a second way of getting the infinite combo.

To end the land issue, when Innistrad comes out, I will consider sulfur falls (It's probabily cheaper than steam vents) and I can keep this deck standard ;)

I don't think I would add Pestermites and Kiki-jik. You don't want to give up your counter/burn slots...When playing non-standard, if you want to better assure the combo, you can use 4 Intuitions instead of See Beyond/Shrine of Piercing Vision. Those cards are pretty expensive, but they are amazing.

Hmm, how about Mental Misstep? It has won so many counter wars for me and I think it definitely deserves consideration for this deck. You also might try some shatter effects to get rid of Torpor Orb and Spellskite. Actually, you could run a one-of twisted image main for Spellskite and then a shatter or two for Torpor Orb/ Phyrexian Negater.

ok so to use both ur shrine and the typical twin combo i would suggest the following changes:

see beyond out maybe move to SB and 2 more prob.
possiably swap out the boilworks for scalding tarn, searching ability to thin the deck out.

the only other change i might make myself would be some tezz gambits they r amusin and in most tournament decks these days. just a thought. u could even consider a couple jace, memory adept for the SB i would agree that topor orb would be a pain, maybe play a couple shatter in the SB as well for that match up.hope some of this helps a lil.

You need Pestermite and Kiki Jiki.

Since this isn't standard. if you want it standard, remove the Boilerworks

Hi gugajrf,

Generally a nice deck. There isn't much room for improve on it (except adding steam vents)as long as you are trying to keep the deck Standard format. You are missing a sideboard for tourney play. Here's one to give you some ideas.

Sideboard:
2 Mental Misstep,
2 Spellskite
2 Sylvok Replica
2 Grim Lavamancer
2 Negate
2 Spell Pierce
3 Arc Trail

The only thing about twin decks there's only one win condition for the most part. But it looks good.

When innistrad comes out there will be a new land(forgot the name) that will do the trick...
