The mana curve may look terrible at first glance, but it actually looks like this: 1 2 3 4 5 6 15 0 8 8 3 2 Dismember will generally be played for 1 mana, swords for 5, and white sun for 6. The two slot is empty because there aren't many great 2-drops for Humans, the Birds and Pilgrims help you skip straight to 3, there are tons of 1-drops that can be played in pairs on turn two, and both Dismember and the flashback on Lingering Souls can cost two. Green is favored in lands because both Pilgrim and Birds will help you get the other colors of mana. White is also favored because white has the meat-and-potatoes cards like Crusader and Hero. Blue has quite a bit of support because both Geist and Ponder are important to the deck. A small amount of Black is in the deck for Dismember and Lingering Souls flashback, both of which are optional.
