yes any amount of creatures can block any 1 creature. however 1 creature cannot block any number of creatures (unless stated). How does it work? say the opponent attacks with a 2/2 and you have three 1/1's in play. you can block with two of the 1/1's. This would deal 2 damage to the enemy creature killing it and the opponent can choose to divide the 2 damage his creature deals in any way among your two creatures. The player would divide the 2 damage into 1 and 1 killing the 2 blockers.
