Deck Description

Hey, Basically I have been playing magic for about a week now. Immediatley, the 'unearth' effect on my Shambling Armies Intro pack creatures got my interested on building a deck around creatures with unearth...
I dont own many cards and I am on a tight budget. Also me and some mates might be entering a tourney in August, so changes are apprciated, but make sure they're cheap!

Deck discussion for Unearth!

If I read correctly, you're fairly new to MtG. I had your same problem when I was starting out. Just throwing a bunch of cards you lik together is going to haunt you. Decks (98% of the time) should have 3-4 copies of cards. Not 1 or 2. There is usually excpetions. But I won't get into that. Try to remove cards that don't help towards your "common goal". And put in 20-24 lands, and 3-4 copies of all other cards. If this seems confusing, it will all make sense eventually. Take a look at my decks, THX1183's decks, or MagicMan514's decks. We've been playing for a while and our decks should give you an idea what deck's card and mana bases look like. I'm not saying copy our decks, just look at how deck's come together.

mmm... I see what you're saying.

However, a lack of cards and cash comes to mind :l

I realise having 1 - 2 of each card makes it less likely to come up and then the deck becomes less consistent... So I solved this by getting creatures with the same effect and therefore a similar play style.

So for example, instead of 3 -4 Dregscape zombies, I would put in 3 - 4 low cost creatures with unearth.

But regardless, do you know anywhere I could purchase cheap singles?

Thanks

for cheap singles you can probably go to a magic store and see if they have a commons box (10 for a dollar usually). I think you need some more straight removal to get yourself out of hairy situations. You've got access to both black and red mana so you have options. try bone splinters, terror, wretched banquet etc. for budget cards. i agree with the first poster about shrinking into more copies of the more potent cards. good synergy with the deck though.

You can usually go to a local comic book/TCG store and ask if they have singles. If there is a local tournament center or store, but they don't sell singles you can usually ask an expierenced player and they will give you (no charge) their unwanted commons and uncommons. Whenever I get a pack from FNM or something, my friends and I give all our commons and uncommons to a noobie. But if all of those aren't possible, try abugames.com. But I would go to local stores before ordering over the internet. Card websites are only useful for buying hard to find cards, lots of rares, or gaming supplies.

I like this for an unearth deck. This deck has alot of options. This looks like a fun casual deck to play! Sedris the Traitor King is a good card for any casual play unearth deck. This might be a little tough to get some of your better cards out as you only have a few copies of each. I'm sure as you buy new cards though u'll improve the deck as you go and keep what you like in it!
