Deck Description

First attempt at a decent new-ish deck because all of my friend's recent ones crush my vintage cards after they spent 20+ years collecting dust in the garage... Aggro Goblins should do the trick! I built the base of this deck on the Magic 2015 game app and it wins about 9/10 multiplayer matches so fingers crossed - the last few cards are ordered and on their way so we'll see how it goes!

I know it's a bit creature-heavy but I haven't had too much of an issue yet. If anyone has any good recommendations for what can be trimmed and/or replaced with enchantments/instants/sorcery, I'm all ears though! Thanks in advance! :)

How to Play

There are a few different ways to win with this deck but the goal is to keep attacking with no mercy, forcing your opponent to focus on defense the entire time. Get out a few of the low cost creatures, keep their early defensive creatures at bay with direct damage on their turn to save your mana/block with Goblin Arsonist (for the extra 1 damage), lay out what you can with Warren Instigator (hopefully a Krenko, Mob Boss/Rabblemaster - keep in mind there are two combat steps for double strike so that's two creatures for every unblocked attack!), tap Mob Boss as often as possible, boost everything with Bushwhacker/Hall of Triumph and it's usually over around turn 6!

Try to play Battledriver before Rabblemaster to force your opponent to block the 3/1 generated token and open themselves up. Attack with Rabblemaster when they least expect it - that +1/0 for each other attacking creature gets them by surprise every time!

Hold on to Seismic Strike to take out stronger creatures in the late game during your main step after they block your attack.

Rockslide Elemental is in there for support - not always necessary but if you get it down early and sacrifice some goblins for the greater good, you'll have some defense later on. Remember that he gets a +1/+1 for ANY creature sent to the graveyard - including your opponents - so they're usually less inclined to block. Even if you don't attack with him, I find it to be more psychologic and distracting to an opponent than anything, focusing their attention on taking it out while your other creatures sneak in for the kill!

Why 70 cards?

I know it's a killer but I find that I'm extremely indecisive and can never seem to part with particular combinations... I plan on throwing ~3-5 in the sideboard before playing but left them there for the time being. I like having a few more cards in the deck because it opens up more combos that can be made and keeps it a little more unpredictable/fun for me. If you have any suggestions, I'm more than open to them - anything is appreciated! :D

First of all 4 Goblin Chieftain is how you ALWAY start a goblin deck, it's much better than Hall of Triumph, Raid Bombardment seems bad with Ogre Battledriver, Rockslide Elemental and even Krenko, Mob Boss. Mogg war marshal is IMO a bit better than Krenko's Command but only if you are running Goblin Chieftain.

I'd cut:
3 Ogre Battledriver
3 Hall of Triumph cuz it's legendary
3 Krenko's Command
3 Raid Bombardment
3 Shock
2 Seismic Strike
1 Krenko, Mob Boss cuz he is legendary
1 Rockslide Elemental as he is a bit too situational

I'd add:
4 Goblin Chieftain
4 Goblin Grenade or 1 Goblin Rabblemaster, 2 Goblin Shortcutter and keep 1 Hall of Triumph in there.
1 Lightning Bolt

But that's what I'd do. The one thing you ahve to do though is have 4 Goblin Chieftain in the deck. Also bolt -> shock.

Thank you so much for your input! I've got an older Goblin deck that I was going to mix and match with after giving this one a few tries so I've got a few of the replacements.

I already have 4 Goblin Grenades so they're definitely going to get swapped in.

I didn't even know about Goblin Chieftain (it's been so long since I've played - only 2-3 weeks back in after a 20 year break!) Would 4 Goblin Kings I have work in place of?

I already have 1 Lightning Bolt as well so I'll swap one for a Shock. I liked having them both in there so I'm not inclined to waste a Bolt when I could use a Shock instead.

And inquiries about two of the changes (purely to get an understanding for your reasoning behind them):

1) Why would you remove Raid Bombardment? Just curious because I feel like that card is clutch with a swarm of 1/1's or 2/2's after Hall of Triumph and/or Mob Boss's ability but I guess they would just be taking up space if you plan on boosting everyone with Chieftain/King to a 3+.

2) Why would you leave it with only Goblin Grenades and Lightning Bolts for direct damage? This deck tries to capitalize on the first half of the game and I feel like less DD leaves you vulnerable later on, especially with nothing but little creatures!

I'm going to make some of these changes now - thank you again!

Goblin king is much worse but i guess it is fine.

Shock is juts a worse bolt so if you are gonna run both run 4 bolt and 2 shock or maybe less shocks as it is bad card most of the time, you are not wasting a bolt when killing something with 2 health as it dies which is what you want. The reason to cut sock is to have a deck with less cards and therefore more consistency, ideally 60 or 61 cards but tht is rare and happens only in specific decks.

I'd cut Raid Bombardment because it is worse than most other cards in your deck and as I said you want a 60 card deck, maybe 61 but that's unusual.

You are an aggro deck so you don't go to the late game you want to play as muh shit as possible, swing and finish your opponent off with Goblin Grenades or bolts and by running more direct damage you're forcing yourself to run less creatues(or run more cards which destroys your consistency)and you can't do that as that will weaken the synergy of your deck(cuz you are a tribal deck with lords and Krenko). And bolt does a good enough job at killing what you want dead.

Writing on my phone.

WOW were you right... Some of the changes you suggested helped make this deck UNBEATABLE the other night! 10-0 and my friends hated me afterwards! I've updated the deck to how it's currently playing. Thank you again for the help to make this a killer!

Glad to hear that, my brother had a similar goblin deck and it won him about 80% games, through it didn't have some of the cards that your deck has like Warren Instigator or Foundry Street Denizen.

Goblins are just strong, from my own experience i know that without proper sb hate you'll have a hard time staying above 5 health, the best thing is the cost, there are 3 cards that cost any money at all and good decks can be built without Instigator and Rabblemaster.

*like*
When using "Krenko, Mob Boss" I can suggest some cards, based on my own monoR Goblin deck (http://www.mtgvault.com/muktol/decks/monor-tribal-goblins/)
"Furystoke Giant", "Purphoros, God of the Forge"...two good finishers. The has instant board impact and can be used again thanks to persist, Purphoros is a killer in combination with Krenko
"Quest for the Goblin Lord"/ "Shared Animosity"...two buff enchantments. Quest is faster with only cmc1 but the Animosity can get stronger (tough you have to be careful as it counts for your AND your opponent's creatures)
"Mogg War Marshal"...basically a "Krenko's command" with a body
"Massive Raid"
"Legion Loyalist"...trample and first strike for all your attacking goblins. A little bit more unstable than "Bloodmark Mentor" but the trample can make the difference.

Greetings
Muktol
