The guards are to provide some protection while your flyers go in and collect with the lifelink and stat enchants.Vizkopa Guildmage's second spell plays a huge roll in this as does Exquisite Blood, together on the field is a end game win condition.Chalice of Life also plays a roll as not only a trickle of life gain but also for when it turns into Chalice of death.This is my first build and it's a rough one, but I built it with Orzhov in mind and a deck that wont bust the bank. Comments and insight are appreciated.

Now thinking about taking out Nighthawk and adding in Rhox Faithmender to get x2 life gain which with the guildmage's ability would be great. Extort for 2 gain Rhox Faithmender x2 = 4 lifegain. Guildmage triggers and does 4 damage.
