How to Play

Hi guys!
I'm a returned player after almost 8 years away from MTG.I've been trying to create a deck with the purpose of making the oponent discard and draw cards, being damaged everytime he or she does so. Since I've just returned I don't know much about the cards out there and I was hoping that you guys could give me some feedback about this deck project of mine! I've never tryed this deck nor I have any of the cards.
From what you can tell, all the cards serve the purpose above explained, exept Dark Ritual, which is there to aid on the slow game (mostly of the cards cost 3 or more).
Cheers!

Deck discussion for Discard, Draw, Die (Help!)

From experience, it's more efficient to damage the opponent for either drawing or discarding. Doing both makes the deck too clunky (and inconsistent), so I suggest choosing one or the other. You can still run cards that draw and discard, but it's the damage side that should be just one sided.

Also, your tags are wrong, this deck is definitely not Standard.

I'll have that in consideration! I guess I'll go for discard.
One question, in what type of game does this deck fit in? And if possible, what's the diffrence between the most played types?
I've heard about the comander type and modern the most, and I know about thoes. I though Standard stood for the normal game.
I appreciate your time!
Cheers!

Each of those is call a format, and each format has its own rules for what cards are allowed to be used.

Standard is largely for newer players. Only cards from the three most recent blocks, which contain two sets each, are allowed in Standard. As of coming Friday (30 September 2016) the blocks legal in Standard will be Battle for Zendikar (Battle for Zendikar and Oath of the Gatewatch); Shadows Over Innistrad (Shadows Over Innistrad and Eldritch Moon); and Kaladesh (so far only Kaladesh).

Modern is a relatively new format (in comparison to the others). Any card printed in a set from Eighth Edition onwards is legal, but there is a banned list too.

Commander, previously known as Elder Dragon Highlander or EDH, is an interesting format where you have a deck of 99 cards and one Legendary as your deck's Commander.

You can find out more on the formats here:

Your deck idea is best suited for either Modern; Legacy; or Vintage. It can't be done in Standard, and I'm not clued up on Commander enough to suggest it.

Thanks a lot for the update! I guess this deck stays for Legacy...
Commander looks fine but I have zero cards atm and not sure if people play it that much where I live.
I'll try to make a discard deck. Any advice on colours?

I've checked some of your decks and I must say: Damn! 660 decks?! Thanks for sharing!

Cheers!

If your going for Discard, 8 Rack like Muktol suggested would be your best bet as it punishes the opponent for having little to no cards in hand, and you force him to discard to the required level for punishment.

I play mostly Modern and Standard, so I'm not too clued up on any other format, but I did find this Primer (a kind of 'how to') for Legacy 8 Rack:

As for all those decks I have, I really need to go through and delete majority of them as I don't need the lists anymore.

Wow, that deck from the link you gave me is brutal. I've been reading and I love it's style, feels so nostalgic to me in particular. A bit expensive but amazing! (Bloodghast costs 20€ wich is like a shot on your wallet).

I've leraned more from you than alone in 5 days. Thanks for your aid!

Glad I got my four Bloodghast when they came out. They're $28 each as per Star City Games at the moment, which translates to about R400 (ZAR) 0.o

Always glad to help :D

That's awesome! They are too much expensive for me right now. I all up for mid range price decks atm.
I made some changes in this one to be legal as a Modern deck. I'd like to proxy this deck and a 8-rack Mono Black (on process) to feel the difference. I know you advices me but I want to see it for my self to understand the mechanic of it :P

Christ, this game has 20 years! We're getting so old...

I fully agree that testing it out yourself is the best option. We are different people, who read each situation differently, thus we play the game differently.

I think what you are looking for would be an U/B or R/B 8-Rack deck. Normally those decks are creatureless and the question is if that's what you want in the end.
Also legality is a big questions. Where do you want to play this deck?

Greetings
Muktol

Hi!
When I was younger I used to play with some friends and by my self. We didn't had the local shop we have today on which I decided to join up. But I have no card anymore and I thought of this deck! I dont get much about the type of games yet, I've been learning what I can.
As for legality: Windfall has been banned and can be played in vintage but in restriction. I took it out and placed Wheel and Deal.
R/B doesn't look bad! :)
Cheers!

You could take a look at "Megrim". It's normally "Liliana's Caress" number 5-8, though more expensive to play and the effect makes it slightly weaker than the original. The same is true for "The Rack" but it has a different mechanic and requires your opponent to loose nearly all his handcards, which can be a different thing when playing with "Jace Beleren" or "Master of the Feast"
"Scepter of Fugue" could also be an option as it lets you discard your opponent if you don't have any more handcards.

I'm glad I posted this deck. I've been searching and learning a lot since yesterday. Thanks for the support!
I'll leave this deck as it is (made some changes to legalize it as Modern) and make another one 8-Rack Mono Black.
I thought of Megrim. If I were going for a pure discard deck I'd place Megrim instead of Underworld Dream.
