Deck discussion for Rakdos´s Control Deck - Standard

perhaps ill explain the idea of a sideboard first
a sideboard is not for cards that didnt make it into the deck its for card's that help combat deck weakness or exploit common strategies like frights or tokens with that said
blasphemous act is a good sideboard card
as is pithing needle
elixer is only if mill is an issue not life as it will really only slow you down as much as anything
rakdos charm is a good card in a sideboard
slaughter games is a solid option i can explain any of these if your unsure why they are good or don't know what strategy they mess with

Thanx for you comment! And yes, Runechanter´s shouldnt be there :) I think Mutilate is better than Blasphemous though. Slaughter games goes right in there, so thanx for that tip! Where I´ve played, milling can still be an issue hence Elixir of Immortality.

Any other advice? I gladly take it!

The idea is keep control of the opponents creatures and hand. Take them down slow and steady with Guttersnipe and finish off with Desecration Demon. If they sack a creature, reply with Brimstone to the head or kill of another creature with Tragic Slip.

Hmm, I don't understand why you'd have a slum reaper in this deck....
The rest looks good, it just doesn't fit..! I may be mistaken. If so, please explain why...

This deck will be weak token decks or control. Control can remove ur creatures, while waiting for that big hit on entreat or similar. A token deck will create more creature per card, than u can kill, with things like thragtusk, armada wurm.

To handle the token based decks, you need to SB a couple Mizzium Mortars at least.

To handle the control style decks, I'm not sure what you'd need - but definitely something!

Hope this helps. If you have a chance, check out my Bant standard: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=395658

Thanx for you input!

I added slum reaper instead of another instant or sorcery, doesnt have to be there but I like having the option to get a dude out instead of just letting them sack something. Obviously im hoping to sacking a rat in that case.

I agree, tokens can be a problem. Mutilate can help with that, could also add a few Blasphemous acts or Mizzium in SB. For control decks, Slaughter games and Duress. Sure, if they draw Entreat the Angels: not ideal for me. But since I can probobly remove their removals early, I think its possible to beat em down before their mana base is too strong. Dreadbore takes care of their planeswalkers so I think control decks need some luck to win. And I can´t do anything about luck.

Just what I think. If you have any advice how to counter these decks in another way, do tell! Im still learning :)

Thanx!
