Deck Description

Modern Green-Blue Infect

In general, you want to play Glistener Elf first on the play and Noble Hierarch first on the draw. Against a deck with removal, if you have two copies of one, and one of the other, play the one you have an extra copy of.

Wild Defiance acts as a pseudo-Infect creature, enabling some keeps without an Infect creature.

I tend to sideboard out a Become Immense or two against decks with Remand.

You can use Vines of Vastwood on a variety of things involving their creatures. These include:

- Countering their Splinter Twin.

- Stopping an equipment.

- An Amulet Bloom land from giving Primeval Titan haste or double strike.

- Modular trigger from Arcbound Ravager from hitting its target.

However, it does not stop Spellskite from being able to redirect your spells onto it.

Dryad Arbor is a 1/1 Mountain Dryad under Blood Moon.

Distortion Strike must be exiled if it resolves. Don't add it into your equation that turn regarding delving for Become Immense.

Inkmoth Nexus does neither infect nor regular damage when Melira, Sylvok Outcast is in play, so don't bother activating it.

Games slow down after sideboard. Most decks' plans are to kill everything you play while stranding you with pump spells. You side out pump spells in many matchups, and most often Mutagenic Growth.

Twisted Image is a card that's serviceable without a great target, but awesome if they have one, such as a sideboarded Spellskite. You often side in some number of them in the dark against everything as a hedge.

With the option to go up to 4 Spellskite and 3 Wild Defiance, this opens the door to an "alternate win condition" when you have 2 Spellskites and 1 Wild Defiance. Wild Defiance triggers on becoming the target, not on cast like heroic, enabling a Hatred-esque combo kill.

How to Play

Spellskite (2) 0/4 - You can block and redirect removals with it to protect your creatures. He can survive a Lightning bolt, redirect exuipment, aura spells to itself, so he is great against Bogle (Hexproof enchantment) and Splinter Twin decks.

Blighted Agent (1)(U) 1/1 - This dude is unblockable, and its really handy vs Affinity deck who tend to have a lots of blocking creatures. Affinity doesn't really have have answers to it, but it's cool in other matchups too.

Glistener Elf (G) 1/1 - He is your first drop usually, depending how many pumps and Noble Hierarchs do u have in hand. Be aware that infect creatures make their dmg tru -1/-1 counters to creatures, so you can block, pump remove some big threats like goyf, primeval, etc.

Noble Hierarch (G) 1/1 - your engine. Gives mana to all your spells (even Aposte's Blessing) and have Exalted, what gives you the opportunity for a T3 kill.
T1. Noble T2 any infect creature T3 you have 4 mana, you need to play 2x +4 pumps and you have mana for a counter if they try to remove, or you can give your creature protection or hexproof
-> 1from the infect creature (1) + 1 from exalted (2) + 4+4 = 10 poison.
Against Amulet Bloom, if you have 4 mana source, and they Hive MInd + Summoner's Pact, you can search for a Noble to have the +1 mana source for your turn, therefore you can pay for the Pact and you do not lose on the spot.

Wild Defiance (2)(G) - it's abbility triggers when your creature get TARGETED, so even if your pump is countered, your creature was STILL targered and you get a +3/+3. Burn just hate it, so expect some Electrolyze, Lightning Bolt etc targeting you. Against Jund prefer to side it out, coz it can grow the goyf, and has no real effect against spot removals, like Path to Exile.

Apostle's Blessing (1)(-W-) - protection from chosen colour or Artifact ! so it's huge against Affinity, or even Tron Wormcoil Engine for example. also protects your creature from blockers and removals.

Become Immense (5)(G) - thats a +6+6 pump, and you WILL have stuff in your graveyard, so don't be afraid to use it. Even if you have just 4cards in graveyard you can Probe to search for any threats (+draw) then you can use your pumps to finish. Expect some games when you will win tru normal dmg from Noble-s, so the +6/+6 is really great. Not so great in multiples tho. Ohh i nearly forgot that it doesn't trigger Eidolon of the Great Revel.

Might of Old Krosa (G) - you can play it defensively to block, or to save your creature, but it really shines when its your turn to deal the damage.

Mutagenic Growth (-G-) - pump for 'free', it's just handy to have, coz it can suprise kill an opponent.

Vines of Vastwood (G) - so this is one of teh best cards in the deck. it can give your creature hexproof and +4/+4 and its really cool. BUT you can also mess with your opponents creatures. You just need to know your matchups, and leave 1 green source open. It can mess with equip-s, auras, modular counters, pump lands (Primeval titan geting haste+double strike in amulet bloom for example), etc.

Distortion Strike (U) - it makes your dudes unblockable and provide +1 Power if you dont have your Noble for the T3 win, also have Rebound, so it's a great card in overal.

Gitaxian Probe (-U-) - your scout and your UNKNOWN card. Before the Alpha Strike you should gain knowlage what your oponent has in hand. You gain info, draw a card, and have +1 card in your graveyard for Become Immers...cool.

Sleight of Hand (U) - sometimes it can save your ass. When you need 1mana, When you need a pump spell, When you need a creature...Sleight of Hand helps.

Dryad Arbor 1/1 - so...Dryad Arbor, but why ? when you need a mana source, its a land. When you need a blocker, hes a creature. When your oponent has no blocking creatures, tapped out you have only your dryad in play, but he is low coz his fetch lands + shock lands, and you even got him for 1/2 dmg with your Noble before....you just go and PUMP DAT DRYAD ! and go for the kill.
When you have the perfect hand, you can win next turn, you have your Infect creature on board, BUT your opponent cast an EVIL Liliana of the Veil and say "please sacrifice a creature"...the dryad dies like a martyr, saving the infect creature's life who cries out then leting out a battlecry, (gets all pumps) your turn and slap dat opponent HARD. So yeah...Dryad Arbor is handy. ^^

Inkmoth Nexus - so...basically he is annoying . All sorcery removal is pointless. Abrupt Decay is worthless (coz its a land), Liliana of the Veil can't make you sacrifice it, and....it has FLYING. Think about Inkmoth Nexus like it's the most annoying mosquito in the world...for your opponent. When you go to bed....you close your eyes...you nearly fall asleep....THEN !.... bzzbzbzbzzz. Now you know how annoying can be an Inkmoth Nexus to your opponents.

Pendelhaven - comes into play untapped, gives (G) and it can even pump up your 1/1 creatures to 2/3. Really handy against Zoo, but against the other decks an overal allstar too.

SIDEBOARD

Carrion Call (3)(G) - so you can get 2x 1/1 infect creatures at INSTANT speed. Great against slow decks, or decks with target removals, coz one bug will survive and gets pumped and revenge his fallen brother !

Dispel (U) - counter a removal, younter a storm piece, counter a pump spell in mirrir, counter some token giver, counter instants (!?). It's GREAT.

Nature's Claim (G) - BUT YOUR OPPONENT WILL GAIN LIFE ! kido... we are playing infect...even if my opponent is like 1000000000 life but 10 poison counters...he is fucked. for example....it kills Amulet, kills Spellkite, Plating for affinity...or simply just all affinity cards, splinter twin, mirror's Wild Defiance, storm's Pyromancers Ancession...etc etc. FOR 1...ONE (G).

Piracy Charm (U) - islandwalk comes in handy sometimes, +2-1 kills Bob (Dark Confidant) and like Signal Pest, and some more. You can even use it as a pump spell on your own if you get exalted and/or have Pendelhaven. Discard is sometimes great too...at instant speed.

Spell Pierce (U) - slow your opponent down. he will see that you have cards in your hand and have a blue source, so he needs to build up for +2mana to play his card safely...you only need 1 U open which can be a Noble too.

Twisted Image (U) - you see that card and think....but why ? First of all its a draw.
But...it can kill Noble Hierarch, Birds of Paradise, Wall of Roots, Signal Pest, Ornithopter, Spellskite, Doran, the Siege Tower....OR it makes Glistener Elf a 3/2 after a Pendlehaven activation.

So this is my Green Blue Infect deck + insight to modern format.
i hope you enjoy it and it helped you in some way !
