Yes warbarge or fishliver oil I considered :) But I needed a lot of counterspells to keep the damn thing alive haha. Could make a fun variant still. I like the unstable mutation idea too!
I used to play this a lot :) Just getting back into it and might suggest to my casual playgroup sometimes if they're happy to play against it.
