Deck Description

I was trying to build a deck that attacks from a different angle, is resilient to Grafdiggers cage, and can sideboard to reduce dependence on the graveyard, thus removing some of the effectiveness of Rest In Peace. This deck is based on Patrick Chapin's four color Vengevine from the pro tour a year or so ago.

I took some artistic liberties with the Extractor Demon/ Viscera Seer tag team, as well as the unbanning of Golgari Grave-Troll. Too good to pass up.

How to Play

If you don't have a dredger and a way to put them in the graveyard, or a way to self mill in your opening hand on the play, mulligan. On the draw, you can always discard at the end of your turn, but you will be putting yourself behind on lands.

If the first hand cooperates, then it is all downhill from there. Generally you want one red source and one blue source on the field in the first two turns, hence the tiny amount of basics. Your second priority is black mana, as that allows you to cast your gravecrawlers from the graveyard. Blue in this deck serves as more of a nitrous boost for the dredge as well as a beat stick in the form of Skaab Ruinator. Red gets you off the ground with Faithless Looting and black is the meat and potatoes of what your deck does. Green is more of a necessary evil, as getting stuck not being able to hardcast a Vengevine would be pretty silly. In any case, pay attention to your hand, pick a line that fits with what your deck is suggesting you do, and fetch those shocklands accordingly.

The reason this deck has a basic swamp and a basic forest is specifically for Bloodmoon. You can cast an abrupt decay with just those. While it is a long shot, not having to auto-scoop because of a single card is worth it.

Extractor Demon is a new addition, but he fits the deck perfectly. His unearth allows for a hasty, evasive 5 to the face and his ability syncs nicely with viscera seer to sacrifice zombie tokens, gravecrawlers, bloodghasts, or even vengevines to dump more stuff in the yard. If you get on a hot streak, say with 4 bridge from belows in the graveyard and a fistful of creatures on the field, milling your opponent is not out of the question with this deck. 15 creatures sacrificed to Viscera Seer with Extractor on the field is a lot of cards moved. 30 to be exact.

This deck doesn't have a lot of interaction though. Also, in many cases it would be wiser weigh the amount of damage you can do in one turn with how many bridge from belows are in your graveyard.

All in all, not a Tier 1 deck, however it is a heck of a lot of fun to play. When everything is going according to plan, expect turn 3 or 4 victories. Keep track of your triggers and timing, and take as many 10 minute turns as you can!
