Deck discussion for Precursor Lullz

Brilliant. I was trying to make a deck doing the same with Ink-Treader Nephilim.

Although you really need more creatures. This deck runs terribly slowly.

I'd get rid of Cloudshift if I were you, seeing as how most of your creatures will be tokens and those tokens won't be returned to the game.

It's for blade splicer, I believe, and is really effective for that, but I can see your point as far as using it as a combat trick.

Of course it's great on Bladesplicer, and, now that I think about it, great for protecting your non-token golems.

not really, because even if it targets a non-token golem, it will be replicated and will exhile all of the other golems as well

Yes, but he can still keep his non-tokens out of harm's way. Having one creature is better than none, you know? Sure it's only useful in a few situations, but useful none-the-less.

I'd suggest going to 24 lands just for the sake of consistency. I like the deck! I have a playset of precursor golems in my trade binder and have always wanted to make a deck with them...i think you've inspired me :)

Pulled off of Daily MTG? Brilliant.
I think if you play Cackling Counterpart on Precursor Golem, you end up with 8 Golems. Flash it back, you've got 26. Play Sigil Blessing? Swing with 26 196/196 golems. Play Sheltering Word? You gain 5096 life. Still not enough? Play Chorus of Might to make them all 222 tramples. Swing for 5,772 damage? Yes, please.

The flashback from Cackling counterpart shouldn´t activate twice due to the Precursor golen and the token generated by the first cast of the card?

I really strongly advise against cloudshift, it get's rid of ALL your tokens. Also, love that sigil blessing, funny as hell in this deck.
+1

I would certainly recommend a couple Sol Rings to help with Rite of Replication's kicker cost and just for the Precursor Golem itself.

I've been searching for a card, but I just can't find it; it's a/n (possibly standard) instant or sorcery that buffs target creature and each creature with the same name. I know it's either green or white.

echoing courage is what oyu're looking for , but the sigil works better here.

Right! Thank ya. Yeah, that was just a suggestion for another hard-hitting addition, if you think there could be room.

I'd take out Travel Preparations because it's not a single target and replace it with Hunger of the Howlpack

add Asceticism to cancel negative effects like murder!

Sol Ring is restricted in Vintage, that's why this deck is illegal in every format. Cut down to a single one. And add the 1 Tinker that is allowed in Vintage.

Too many pump spells and too few golems for my taste.

If you want to ramp, you can include Azorius, Selesnya, and SImic Signets which are all Modern-Legal.

what would you do against mass removal with this deck?

0
Posted 06 December 2013 at 11:29

mass removal are not needed, one doom blade or a lightning bolt are enough to strike all golems down.
pretty inconsistent as a deck.
Ascetism could help, in any case i don't think this deck stands a chance.

That's what Sheltering World is for. Your Doom Blade might strike all golems but Sheltering World protects all golems.

Sure, this is risky and will probably lose to most decks, however, that's what casual is about: Trying to make specific ideas works as best as possible even if they don't stand a chance against tournament level decks. Just keep in mind that out there are other deck builders in the same situation. They want to build fancy decks that are slower, risky and/or inconsistent. If one of those two abandons his idead and builds something better instead (which usually means the same old decks) the other is forced to abandon his weaker but fun deck as well. But if you both stick to it, you could play against each other on the same powerlevel and have fun. Probably more fun than the guys with the powerful but boring run-of-the-mill decks.

Sorry, my intention was not to be rude! I'm a 100% causal player, check my decks to get an idea of it!
In a suitable situation he can easily overrun the battlefield with pesky golems, but this deck is slow and has too few creatures in general.
Many cards could prevent it from working at all (surgical extraction for example) and while it's true he has sheltering word a burn deck for example has too many things to answer too with just some sheltering words, and this is true for a control deck aswell.
He doesn't have any kind of evasion (flying, trampling) and does not have nothing to deal with opponents menaces (no removal, no bounce at all).
In the end the idea is interesting, but lacks survivability.
This said, having fun is the only thing which really matters when talking about magic :) and yes the deck looks like it is fun to play

I see how doomblade or any single target or destroy or exile can crumple the whole deck as well as a well timed sheltering word can prevent that, but this still doesn't answer my question about massremoval because sheltering word won't do the trick against wrath or the likes. Also asceitism won't help, maybe rootborn defenses? But that then is just another spell, which makes chqnces of getting q creature even smaller...also i wouldn't know what to take out.
All said i love the idea of precursor golems, Nice deck, definitely fun :D

Don't care about mass removal. If you have a Precursor Golem with his tokens active, you should win shortly thereafter anyway.

With all your lands coming in tapped, and only one card helping your mana ramp your going to get a stomping for atleast two rounds. I'd run basic land along side Glacial Fortress, Sunpetal Grove, and Hinterland Harbor.
To add creatures to your deck(which you need badly) you might look into Noble Hierarch, she will help with mana fixing too.

Elite Arcanist may help too, so you can keep getting your guys hexproof.

I was thinking Gods Willing would be an excellent choice for this deck. Not only do you grant each Golem protection from a color, you can also Scry a major number of times.

How about Widlsize, +2/+2 and trample and you get to draw a card for each golem you control?

I could mill myself out and have to discard alot of stuff. Good idea though!

On the same hand, you could use Shelter instead of Gods WIlling. Maybe throw in an elixir of immortality to shuffle your graveyard back into your library. Or maybe Vines of Vastwood for protection and pump. Here's my take on this variant: http://www.mtgvault.com/berndttoast/decks/golem-funzies/

Shadow Rift or Distortion Strike would be very nice as well. Unblockable golems are pretty good.
