Not on my watch. I saw the card Personal Sanctuary in the new M12 set, and thought it wasn't really that great at first. But then I started thinking about cards like Rust Elemental and Lord of the Pit, and thought that maybe Personal Sanctuary is exactly what I wanted! So here's my attempt at a Personal Sanctuary themed deck.

Personal Sanctuary prevents damage dealt to you during your turn, not life lost. Losing/Paying life does not equal damage. So while the Sanctuary would prevent damage from Lord of the Pit, you would still lose life from Rust Elemental and Howling Banshee, because they aren't doing damage.
