Deck discussion for Grave Pains

Thinking about taking out the Nether Spirits maybe for draw or a big beater.

Maybe Tomb Stalker.

For a beater you could use Grave Titan (which also produces tokens). Thats an expensive card, so maybe not.

Call to the netherworld could be used as one of the 2 cards to activate Zombie Infestation and get back Death Baron or another black card that may have gotten discarded/destroyed earlier on in the game.

A card i use in all black decks is Sign In Blood. It adds alot of speed. Might be worthwhile for you.

I do have a Grave Titan already. The mana cost might be a bit steep for the deck though (maybe not though it adds a lot for what it costs).

I originally was running Call to the Netherworld but I didn't feel it had enough utility. Some play-testing might change my mind on that, so I will keep it in mind.

Sign in blood is already high on my list of cards to go in. It is a definite contender to replace the Nether Spirits.

How does removing the Big Game Hunters for a Grave Titan and an Ascendant Evincar and replacing the Spirits with the Sign in Bloods?

I like the big game hunter. With a self discard, you get a removal spell for 1, and a chump blocker, but if you're already getting tokens then you shouldnt be short on blockers, so its really a matter of whether or not you think you need the extra removal. With death baron all your chump blocker tokens have deathtouch, and grave titan has deathtouch by himself... so i'd say its a fair trade.

Instead of Nether Spirits you could try Nether Traitor. I like it becuase it keeps coming back, but you've got squee also filling that Niche. I'd also say its a fair trade. :)

I like this deck, haven't seen anything like it before.

I am going to print proxies and play test this sometime this weekend/coming up week. I'll keep big game hunter in until then though I may replace the Nether Spirits with the SiB's now (will decree overall cost for me too since they are cheaper and I already have 3).

Added the Grave Titan and Calls. Cut the Sign in Bloods altogether, I never did anything but discard them anyway. I think the deck is a bit more consistent now.

Well thats good. Suprised the Sign in Blood(s) didnt work out. :/ Are you gonna add more Titans later on?

I may or may not add another titan.

I am currently toying with the idea of dropping Green altogether and dropping the land count by a further 3.

Dropping green would probably smooth things out since the only thing you've got thats green is Basking Rootwalla (which is getting a creature for 0, but you already get tokens... so its not too big of a loss). By dropping another 3 lands, you'd have 6 slots open. You could move some of the side board stuff in (dash hopes is an evil card to play against).

OK. Went Mono black. Finally Gave in and added Gibbering decent. Its drawback is too easy to abuse and more often then not I'll be ignoring it. I know it doesn't work with Squee but I should be able to manipulate it.

Minor Update. Changed some of the numbers on cards, Moved Dashed hopes to Sideboard and added Brain Gorgers and a Bloodghast.

thanks for linking your deck to me, found some cards that will work useful in mine. the madness cost/discard combo's should do wonders.

No problem. Squee/Horror combos really well with any discard to allow you to do it each turn.
