Deck discussion for [standard] Heartless Summoning plz help!

You have way too many creatures. You need draw power bc if you do not have a heartless summoning in your opening had then you deck will tank. And if they blow it up you have no answer you are stuck with tapping out to cast your stuff and your combos do not work. I would highly recomend putting Altar's Reap in some how. It is a 3 for 1 when you use solemn simulacrun.

R u sure there's nothing better than Altar's Reap for draw power in standard? And if not what would u suggest I take out for it?

I made a black/blue Heartless deck, here it is: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=253277 The reason I made this deck was because of how well Sun Titan+ Perilous Myr go together. I'm currantly trying to see which two coulors make the best Heartless deck. U should check out my B/G Heartless deck and tell me what u think: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=252413 - It's sort of based around the Glissa+Perilous Myr combo. Cheers for the comment! =)

jay, i see why you have white in here, but the top people are right, you need some way to draw. make it a tri-color deck. and add the sphinx, snapcaster, darkslick shore, maybe keep very minimum basic land because of ghost quarter, add inkmoth nexus....na maybe dont....but find a way to have ponder, think twice, and other draw cards from innistrad and 2012 in there.....remember you are heartless

ok, now you have a better deck, now lets look at some of the cards, what they do, and what cards are similar.
Evil Twin= Phantasmal Image{BLU}, Phyrexian metamorph{3 & PhyBLU} something you might consider because evil twin is a 2 Black Blue and has tap him and creatures with the same name die....
phantasmal image does not have hexproof but very nice card if played
phy metamorph has artifact plus whatever he turns into...also a nice touch.

Ponder {blu} scry 3 draw one.....Think Twice draw 2 cards with flashback......Forbidden alchemy scry4 keep one with black flash back.....

Memorocide......Surgical extraction...

YOU as the leader of your deck need some fight power to keep your guys or keep their guys at bay. you should have counters, creature hate, and some enchantment or artifact hate...well, you have all 3 colors i just mentioned. so mana leak, naturalize, doom blade, go for the throat, turn to frog,

AND snapcaster mage, i dont know if this is a deck you physically have or even MTGO.... but you seriously need snappy from innistrad...flash and instant or sorcery spell has flash? hell ya.. you should see some of the legacy decks i made and seen with snappy in there...it tears the shit out of people and i think i might smell some shit too....:P

Planeswalker help? maybe memory adept. that would be only one i see...BUT most heartless decks dont incorporate walkers for one fact....they are creature influenced.

all in all bro, your deck is legit...hell i made your deck with some of my own twists into it *said above* and played a few rounds at my store.... i dont think im welcomed to FNM anymore...LOL

well think about my advice, like i said above your deck defeated my 20th place deck...

I took out green because the only green card I had in my main board was Acidic Slime and also it allowed room for Mana leak, Doom Blade, Go for the Throat and Turn to Frog. Also replaced Evil Twin with Phantasmal Image and replace Memoricide with Surgical Extraction also I can't find room for snappy, what would u suggest I take out for him? Thanks heaps for all your help with this deck! =)

I changed my mind about Surgical Extraction, it's not as reliable as Memoricide as the card has to be already in the opponent's graveyard for Surgical Extraction to work. Memoricide saves my ass against another Heartless Summoning decks as with Surgical Extraction I have nothing to put the opponents Heartless Summoning in their graveyard to trigger Surgical Extraction.

my recomendation is take one sphinx out and one sad robot for snappy....... so you have 2 snaps for your flash and flash back...

*sad robot* lol! I decided that snappy isn't worth it cause all my other cards in the deck are too essential for this deck to work.

no need to be sarcastic, just because a deck with blue in it doesn't mean its going to be bad w/o snapcaster, I don't run a single one in my blue deck and I went 4-1 the other night at FNM.

For white draw, use Mentor of the Meek. For black draw, use Bloodgift Demon.

A problem i see with this build is a lack of aggressive ability. The simulacrum and the myr are your only real early game options other than removal, and neither one of them really puts pressure on the opponent. Your perilous myr thing is something i looked at, but a 0 cost shock is less valuable than a 1/1 floating shock unless theres something else happening. If you gain something from the Myr dying, then it's way better. Another problem i see is the speed of the deck and the creatures you have for early game. Six costers with the hearltess summoning come out turn 4, and the earlier plays can't come out early enough. What i'm trying to point out is the curve, you have skinrender and simulacrum at 4, then wurmcoil and sphinx at 6. There's a turn 3 gap with the heartless that could be utilized with bloodgift demon. Also there is no way to recur your phantasmal images other than sheoldred and that is not enough, and there's really nothing of value to copy with phantasmal image. I might try to add a color in this deck, probably white for things like sun titan and archon of justice. These give you plays like Sun titian reanimates phantasmal image into another sun titan. Also, don't underestimate evil twin. it's very good in this build. Of course it's up to you to build a deck that works for you, but i'm just trying to be constructive as possible. it's a tricky build, so it'll take some tinkering

Your right. The bloodgift demon filled up the gap on turn 3, that helps alot. And u were right about the perilous myrs, they aren't worth it unless u have more ways to reanimate them. Thx alot! =)

i enjoy running perilous myr with heartless summoning. it works to slow your opponents down early on and then works like a sorcery speed free shock later on in the game

Yeah, I originally ran 4 Perilous Myrs but their not as good unless u have multiple ways to reanimate them. The only reanimation card in this deck is Sheoldred. I made a Glissa/Perilous Myr deck that works pretty well, u should check it out: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=252413

myr superion is really good with summons
but unluess you have it you cant cast it

Very good deck, but remove turn to frog. It's not stable, I reccommend dismember instead. Can save your ass against aggro decks and has a wide range of removal. Oh yes and definately put in 2 myr superions. It's a must. Free 4/5 is always good.

Grand Architect. Myr Superion. Treasure Mage. Less 'Turn to Frog's. That card is terrible and doesn't do shit for your gameplan.

I actually tried black white heartless, it doesn't work so well. I have been playing with heartless for awhile, and i have it down pretty nicely i'd think. I'll give you the think, mine plays pretty consistently. I play this deck in tournament style areas, and it can hold its own.
solemn doesn't work out so well, he is a different deck entirely,
drop wurmcoils down to two, running a 3-of with creatures is a tad awkward.
I like the skinrender idea, if you play against creature heavy decks, he can work pretty well, if not he can be a disadvantage because you MUST place those -3/-3 counters. i would sideboard him.
i like the sphinx, my only problem is that it costs so much. yes this is heartless summoning, but if you are not going to draw it, what will sphinx do for you? you need early card advantage.
Turn to frog sideboard at best, it isn't a stable mainboard,
and you don't need phantasmal image, evil twin will work better, trust me, i run him.
only run 2 bloodgift demons, he is a dead draw after the second because he becomes dangerous to your life.
1 sheoldred, 2 is a bad idea. 2 in opening hand, or drawing another sheoldred is a complete dead draw.
i would even drop darkslick shores down to 3-of, because after early game it is a disadvatange.
try forbidden alchemy and unburial rites with a splash of white via isolated chapel. this combo works very well, because you will only flashback unburial rights late game, and by then you will be hard pressed not to draw an isolated chapel. this even works if they drop your big meanie such as wurmcoil or sheoldred, boom they are coming back.
Frost titan mainboard is very good, he can shut down very many decks, especially aggro, and he is very hard to remove.
Sun titan yes, is a very fun combo with perilous, but that combo is so ridiculously hard to pull off it isn't work it, they will get rid of sun titan asap and you will have barely done any damage with him.
If you are feeling ballsy, try running 2 myr superions. Never 4, that is way to many, but him, heartless summoning and 2 land opening hand is a pretty amazing opener.
Jace, oh jace. amazing card advantage, along with bloodgift demon. you will be drawing 2-3 cards a turn by at least turn 5, and by this time if you can pop jaces ultimate it is gg, you will have a lot of land and you can pretty much play your entire deck. if they have a board wipe, you can unburial rites sheoldred and continue wrecking face.
Final not, you MUST run spellskite. This card is still sitting at $10 for many reasons. Your opponents can not play any enchantments on their creatures without them being stolen. 2 or 4 spellskites work, and they are a 0 drop heartless. 2 games in a row i stopped a player from dropping an angelic destiny on either of his creatures because he didn't want my spellskite to become very very powerful.
Here is my deck link, i hope you can take something from this. This advice comes from me and all of my fellow tournament players, they helped me build this monstrosity.

I prefer Running Bloodgift Demon over Jace, as I can play Bloodgift Demon on turn 3 with HS which allows for superior card advantage. Also if I removed him there would be a turn 3 gap with HS where I could only play cards less than 5 cmc. I dissagree with Myr Superion as it is a dead draw if I din't have HS out. Appart from that I agree with everything else u said, thx for the advice. =)
PS I already saw your HS deck ages ago and I liked it.

really? i fixed it up. it was black white. as for bloodgift, i just prefer to run 2 not 4. I guess i have a love for jace because if i can pop his ult, i can end games. i play at friday night magic whenever i can, and i have a few buddies who know magic pretty well. and yes the myr superion is a problem w/out heartless summoning, but i couldn't make myself to remove him. i rarely run into problems with him, especially with the card draw. Thanks for the feedback!

Ive been working on my own jund colored heartless deck, it was incredibly inconsistant so i am not workling on incorperating a pod concept in it as well. on a good game i can have vorinclex turn 3 and double titans turn 4. on a bad game ill have nothing on play till turn 5 or 6 so it still needs quite a bit of work. In my eyes a good heartles deck should be dropping a big threat every turn from 3 on up till the game is over

Looks good but I think Id try to work in 2-4 Solemn Simulacrum maybe instead of Skinrender?

0
Posted 09 November 2011 at 02:20

id replace skinrender with Solemn Simularicrum for draw power and add Think Twice for more draw power. And if you're going to run Sheoldred, run more than one. If not, take it out for more draw power and rely on your other heavy hitters for the muscle. Wurmcoil Engines will deal with that without needing the Sheoldred.

This ain't my deck but it's a red black variant. Look at it, figure out how it runs, change the red for blue, ASSIMILAAAAAAAAAATE, go nuts, throw a party and win. It works for me. This is the best advice on this I can provide on this combo that isn't legacy. Sorry bro, but at least I gave ya a spring board.
