Deck Description

I just wanted to try and make a deck around Nivmagus Elemental. I think he is a very underrated creature with alot of potential, especially against other control decks. Let me know what you think and help me improve my deck. Some big weaknesses with this deck I've discovered so far is when I'm up against big creatures, it's hard for me to remove them. That and life-gain decks, which is why I have four Skullcracks in my sideboard.

How to Play

I always try to get Guttersnipe out early and keep him on the battlefield for as long as possible; always trying to keep atleast one Island untapped so I can Hexproof him if my opponent tries to target him.
My strategy for Nivmagus Elemental against noncontrol decks is when my opponent's creatures become too big for Electrickery and Pillar of Flame, I'll cast and then exile them with Nivmagus, making him bigger. Also, if I have multiple Mizzium Skin in my hand I can exile the extras to him, as well. And of course against control decks I just exile all my countered spells to him so at least I get some value out of my spells that were going to be countered anyways.

Deck discussion for Nivmagus and Guttersnipe

I've seen a similar deck to this, you should run Delver of Secrets. That way you can attack with a 3/2 with flying on turn two! It sure bugged the crap out of me when I faced it. No pun intended.

Thanks for the comment. I would run Delver of Secrets but I already have a Delver deck (Blue and White) and I don't want to own two decks with Delver in them, only because that way I can have some variety when I play with my friends. But yes, Delver would be awesome in this deck, as well.

I like it. I just posted a Izzet deck myself. I think that you should use some more Cyclonic Rift if you have it. If you would, check out my deck and see what you think. I could use some advice.

Thanks. I do have more Cyclonic Rift but I don't really have a place in my deck to add more. Maybe in my sideboard. I'll have to look into it. I actually just added that one Rift to the deck today because it will be nice for its overload, or just in case I have to get rid of a Witchbane Orb, a big creature, or an artifact like the Sword of War and Peace, which one of my friends likes to play.

Great deck! I really like the idea of pumping up Nivmagus while doing pretty significant damage with guttersnipe. Definitely gives you a lot of options on things to do.

This is a great izzet deck. I really like this expansion in general. You should throw in 1 Isochron Scepter. It lets you exile and copy an instant instead of trashing it to the graveyard. So annoying and really opens the door for more depth in your deck.

Oh and with that Turn//Burn it's like exiling and copying two cards :P
