Deck Description

This is a Tribal Elf Deck that is a favorite of mine. At it's heart is a weenie build deck, however with the card this deck packs, it should be easy to get whatever the situation calls for - something to get more cards, more life, damage opponent, land, etc (at almost five hundred beans it better, right?!?)

The land makeup of this deck should provide you with plenty of mana to get all your cards out quick. Nothing comes in tapped, and in the event you run into mana color issues, the verdant catacombs should give you access to what you need in a pinch as well as thin down your deck at the same time giving you a better probability of getting much needed cards in later rounds. Gaea's Cradle can provide a mega boost of mana for anything from round two forward typically.

For creatures, your elvish archdruids should give you quite a mana base to draw from; You will be able to draw extra cards, with your dark confidants and elvish visionary's; and The Wellwishers should keep you at a healthy life total. What do you do, if you need a specific card? Well your skyshroud poachers should give you access to what you need. As far as the rest of the creatures, well there in here to make sure you are able to build not only an elvish army to stomp your opponent into the ground with, but one that will be beefed up on steroids, with cards like joraga warcaller, imperious perfect, elvish archdruid, bramblewood paragon, rhys, ezuri and timbewatch elves. Finally if your elves get in trouble or you want to use an ability again, your wirewood symbiotes should help with both.

For spells, they only enhance what you already have going on with your creatures. Green Sun's Zenith should give you access to just about anything you want in the deck. Go for the throat can help deal with some bigger, meaner creatures your opponent puts at you, while living wish can get you access to a sideboard stacked with cards for just about any deck situation.

Finally the planes walkers provide auxiliary strength to all the above mentioned categories - that is boosts for your mana and life, gain more elves and creatures (including a nasty nissa super ability to grab every elf you got!) and some more creature steroids from garruk.

Deck discussion for North Pole's Nite Shift - Dude's 1st Path to Pain

so is this elf decks purpose for elf tokens and the mass buff of all elves or were you trying to go another direction with it?

that was my idea, to a mass a ton of token elves that would be built up from the elf pumpers in the deck. Then once you have the army of elves it should be easy to get more life or mana as you progress in elven ranks. Thoughts on how it can make it quicker?

i would say to put in 2 more elvish archdruids, not only for the extra mana production but for the mass elf buff. and if you ever get multiple of most the elves in this deck i would say doubling chant. But other than what i just said, putting in multiples of the cards you already have should help

Lol here is the problem i am having. I have play sets of just about every card in the deck except for dark confidant and aceticism (have two) and lurking predators i only have one of. If you could add multiples of cards in this deck (i know you mentioned the archdruid) what do you take out to keep the deck at sixty?!? This is the problem i am having as i like just about everything i have in the deck and to add more of anything i am going over the sixty cards i want in deck. Please advise.....

dark confident is neat and all but i think your deck would be fine without it, and you only have 1 wellwisher in there so unless you plan on adding more i would take that out too, and i know nissas chosen is a card that everyone wants in there for nissa revane, but her gain life ability is a better one for the +1 one effect, just some suggestions =p

Talara's battalion doesnt mix well either with this deck on the basis of what it does, its a good card but you could put more of other cards you already have in this deck in there and it would improve it much more i think, and its up to you cause its an iffy card, its really good but at the same time not completely necessary is rhys the exiled, i could see why you'd want to keep him in but you could also add another nmore essential card than that. Unless you really wanted all the life gain, but it doesnt seem like your deck really needs it... like i said they are just suggestions tho =p

thanks for the input! Out of curiousity, you think i should increase rhys to two and lower joraga to two or its better to have more joragas, thoughts comments?

No problem man, and well if you're going for tokens there is no better card in the game for getting them than rhys, so it couldn't hurt, you have pretty good mana production so his big ability wont be hard to get to. I would drop the harbringer tho before i would drop another joraga

yah, with two skyshroud poachers and the elvish archruids, mana production and ability to fetch eleves should be covered, makes sense to take that out over the joraga, good call brotha. Its on order, will make change next week (Could of sworn i had more rhys, don't know where i put em! )

Sideboard thoughts? (After alot of the changes I have made both from input on this board and the forum, the entire thing looks to be in need of a revamp!)

thinking of taken the eldrazi monument and akroma memorial off sideboard, as well as one other card, to make room for three sadistic sacraments. I know alot of the decks i am playing in legacy right now are combo and this is the best thing i can think of that is low CC and G/B for combo disruption. Thoughts?

also in main deck, do you think i should drop ascetism for an addtional prowess of the fair? Figure CC is lower on prowess of the fair so better chance of playing it, and with the them of the deck, i can't imagine many rounds will go much further than round six or so anyways. Plus with the number of tokens this deck should produce is ascetism really necessary?

the sideboard is up to you, it really depends on the type of decks you think you might come across and the necessary cards that work with your deck to combatant them, like eldrazi momument is judgement day and wrath of god protection, same thing for akromas memorial with the giving all your creatures flying is pretty devastating and it shuts down burns and removal for black against your creatures, but asceticism is nice, cause your tokens obviously you dont have to worry about its your key cards like rhys or joraga or ect.. that you need to protect. the prowess of the fair is a pretty neat little cant get rid of my creatures card, but you will prolly be losing more tokens than actual elves, having 2 in your deck couldnt hurt i would say, but i would maybe up ezuri up to having 2 or 3 in there, he's a win with all the elf tokens you should have, you have 1 archdruid out an ezuri and 8 tokens you can bump your elves +6/+6 and trample =p
