Deck Description

The 20/200 deck evolved very little over time, but it's certainly noticeable, and certainly in the right direction.

Deck discussion for Optimist

Tough-looking build, Jens and a + 1 from me =)
I tried a homebrew mixing Stax and Pox, but it didn´t fare very well, sadly. How would you prep this against a Legacy Burn, or say, a Delver?

Thanks! And I'd be glad to check out yours, these Stox decks are still quite rare, but always cool!

And against Burn I do something like this
-1 Meekstone
-1 Ghostly Prison
-1 Smokestack
+1 Cabal Therapy
+2 Surgical Extraction, and pay for them with mana rather than life.
Burn is a terrible MU for anything vaguely resembling Pox, but if you have/run Nether Void they can be just what was needed. Or Trinispheres.

Delver is also hard because they need just a little mana, meaning the same tactics could be applied. And if I think there will be a prevalence of Delver decks, I'd trade one or two cards in my SB out to get those.
I make my SBs on the site tailored to either the most versatile metas, or my own, and this time I went for my own; No Delver, lots of StoneX, lots of jank.

Thank you for replying =) Yeah, I got beaten pretty bad by a Delver for some two weeks ago, and been tinkerin´ with a new design of Stox (like that combo-name =D ) I´ll be taking it back this evening and see how it fares

You're quite welcome, and I wish you luck.

Beating Delver is based on creating an initial mana burden, an effect such as Sphere of Resistance, Trinisphere, or Nether Void, and then applying the denial. It's one of the MUs where WinterVoid designs like Quasimofo is the optimal answer probably, since they are designed to inflict the most burden, whereas my designs usually focus on the aspect of denial.

I went against a 'Land Deck' - Pretty awesome, but my Winter Orb came a long way. The problem was that there simply was only 1 Orb. He nuked it with Engineered Explosives taking out my Blind Ob as well AND Bloodghasts, lol. That was very cool, and well played by my opponent. He Dredged w. Life from the Loam along side Crucible and Exploration when he popped Zuran Orb = GG

I know I should feel bad that Stox lost, but XX-Lands is one of my main decks too XD That MU is the opposite of Delver, you need to apply every bit of denial you can before they setup, which is quite the race.
Against them I favor Extirpates, so you can hit LftL, and not have to worry about any response.

Ah, but of course - the answer was staring me right in the face. I need sleep and coffee. I have a PS of Extirpate, two going straight to the SB =) Thank you, once Again you hard-rockin´ amigo

They usually are I've noticed, as a lot of the cruelest decks to play take a lot of skill, and thought, which usually leads to the more interesting people picking them up.

Also I can't tell you how many times an obvious choice was in front of me, and I didn't notice it because I'm as sleep deprived as I usually am... Tea makes the world go around for me. And you're always welcome to whatever advice I can give, as narrow of a field as that is.

How do you think Forcefield would run in a pox deck? Not worth it because all of the creatures your opponent gets out aren't much more than one anyway, or just perfect for maybe a one of? Same thing goes for Maze of Ith

It's an option, but for that price you could just as easily have Ensnaring Bridge. Maze of Ith however is a great card, but I can't recall ever testing it in a Pox based design, but Blackfire Phoenix has inspired me to keep two copies and an Ice Floe in the SB for the next time I play against Maverick. I'm looking forwards to seeing how it works out.
