Deck Description

Creature Challenge #11 Myrs.

Not even sure what a Myr is...a robot, maybe? I do know that they love to be put in Artifact heavy decks. And I do know that they reproduce like rabbits, fastly becoming an army. Give that army something like Eldrazi Monument or Tempered Steel...and let the fun begin.

How do Myrs stack up to the other creature types of Creature Challenge? With only 1 more deck to be built, the tourney will soon start. Who will win? Humans? Faeries? Goblins? Merfolk?

Deck discussion for Creature Challenge #11 Myrs

How would you think a cranial plating would work in this deck? or even maybe a myr retriever.. or myr enforcer would be great just affinity him in for free alot of the time

Thanks for the suggestions. Just not sure what to take out for any of that. I think Myr retriever has the most potential out of the mentioned cards.

a good card could be palladium myr, myr superion, steel overseer and coat of arms

Yeah, I smiled looking up Myr cards...when I seen Genesis Chamber/Myrsmith.

I actually have a question about this deck, if you can help.

Genesis Chamber and BattleSphere.
I have Chamber in play and play Battlesphere.
Do I just gain 1 creature token for Battlesphere...or do I get 5 tokens?

You get one token. The Battlesphere isn't token, but all the little myr it creates are, so they don't give you tokens.

One more question...the same situation with Myrsmith and Battlesphere.

When you have Myrsmith on the board, and cast Battlesphere...you only get the option to pay 1 colorless for 1 1/1myr token, right? Or do you get the option of paying 5 colorless since Battlesphere and his 4 tokens are Artifacts?

I mean, when you cast Battlesphere...it counts as 1 Artifact spell cast...even if 1,000 myr artifacts come in, right? So I only get the option to pay 1 colorless for 1 Myr?

I am basically trying to figure out how much of the deck description/how to play sections I got wrong. lol

Myramith's ability allows you to pay mana every time you CAST an artifact spell in order to get myr.
When Battlesphere enters the battlefield, it brings those tokens with it, so you DO NOT CAST them.
So, no. You can't pay mana/ get any extra myr except one with Myrsmith.

Okay, hate to keep bothering you...but these following examples...could you explain what I would end up with?

Genesis Chamber/Myrsmith in play.
Play Myr Battlesphere and you now get how many tokens?

Genesis Chamber/Myrsmith in play.
Play and sack Origin Spellbomb and now you get how many tokens?

Genesis Chamber/Myrsmith in play.
Play and sack Sunbeam Spellbomb, and now you get 1 1/1 Myr Creature and 5 life for 3 mana?

The first one:
You cast Battlesphere. You pay additional 1. You get single myr. Then Battlesphere enters the battlefield, so you get 4 myr, plus 1 myr from Genesis Chamber. (Total 6 Myr.)

The second:
Play Origin Spellbomb. You pay additional 1. You get single myr. Then you sacrifice spellbomb, so you get another myr. (Genesis Chamber and Myrsmith won't affect the Myr token, so you get total 2 Myr.)

The third:
Yes. You get one Myr and 5 life in the case you pay extra 1 while casting the spellbomb.

One more question. Please.
I have Myrsmith in play.
I tap Blinkmoth Nexus to make it an Artifact Creature. I do not get the option of paying 1 for Myrsmith because Nexus became an Artifact, do I?

Same thing with Origin Spellbomb.
If Myrsmith is in play.
I sac Spellbomb to put an Artifact into play...I do not get the option of paying 1 for Myrsmith, do I?

no, you do not. you aren't casting it, which means that it doesn't trigger the ability.
same with bringing myr servitor back from the graveyard unfortunately.

Damn. This deck seemed so much more awesome before you (Kazzong) and NorthernWarlord straightened me out on the rules.

I thought the deck would be producing so many more Myrs with tricky stuff like Spellbombs/Nexus/Servitor and Interaction with Genesis Chamber/Myrsmith. Honestly, thought I had, as NorthernWarlord wrote, produced an "almost scary" deck.

Now I can play this deck against Thopters. Thanks Kazzong. One up on your comment.

Sadly no, if it isn't actually being cast, but rather put onto the battlefield, it doesn't trigger. although I did just think of something interesting. Galvanizer goes fantastically with lodestone myr. :)
I was actually kind of surprised that a) you are using the galvanizers, and b) not running any mana producing myrs with them. but then I read the description. Tons of people run them that way and you seemed to want to run this deck a little differently I guess. :) and yeah, Galvanizer is a completely broken card.

I have to admit that I love myrs. They seem to be very weak, but have some really cool things that they can do. :)

Okay Kazzong. Game is over. Thopters produced a lot of Tokens...but Genesis Chamber is just failing in the deck. So many of the artifacts produced are tokens...and Genesis Chamber isn't syncing with it. Regardless, I had a Galvanizer, a Myrsmith, Genesis Chamber, and 4 2/2 myr tokens as well as Eldrazi Monument...so they all had flying and indestructibility...when the poop hit the fan.

Turn 5 Seen Thopter have 2 Dimir Signets in play. As well as Time Sieve. Thopter Foundry. And Sword of the Meek. Had 4 lands...all was out for a massive combo. Thopter took 3 Turns on turn 5 do to Time Sieve. But could not find the 5th mana for the infinite combo. So Myr got a turn 6th.

Turn 6 Myrs did a little damage...but it wasn't enough...because on Turn 6 Thopters found their 5th land...ended up taking 6 Turns on Turn 6 using Time Sieve. Myrs had to take 6 turns because it had to build up enough creatures to make it through Myrs Eldrazi Monument and their 7 indestructible creatures...but 39 Thopters did the trick!

Fyi, Thopters had 96 life when they won.

Turn 6 Thopters 96 life. Myrs 0 life.
Thopters 1-0
Myrs 0-1

So...going to try the next game without one of the Spellbombs and without the Genesis Chamber. Added a cheap Myr and Gitaxian probe for a faster pace.

Hoping with extra speed and extra cheap myr to feed Myrsmitth and Lodestone...the deck may work better.

I have, yet to play their first matches: Faeries, Elves, Goblins, and Angels.
Will play Faeries vs. Angels.
And Elves and Goblins.

If i had to wager money...would say Faeries get through Angels Scepter/Orim's Chant.
And Goblins imply overrun Elves, while elves are busy mana ramping.
