Deck Description

A few days ago my wife rushed me to the Hospital. I thought I was dying! Apparently, I was in the process of passing a Kidney Stone.

So...in honor of that special day and my new friend (the kidney stone is in a plastic bag, yet to be named): I present to you, my new deck:

"I just passed a Kidney Stone."

The entire idea is this: How can I use cards from Magic the Gathering that have the words "stone" in them. :)

Ended up with a 50 dollar Casual deck.

************************************************************************************

This deck has 19 cards with the word "stone' in them. They include drawing power, mana ramp, 2 win conditions, and creature stall.

Main "stone" cards are:
-Meekstone/Weakstone combo
-Keening Stone (1st condition with Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient)
-Lodestone Myr (2nd win condition)

Sandstone Needle is included since it is a land with the word "stone" in it.

************************************************************************************

Sideboard: All 15 cards have the word "stone" in their names.
Put in Sunstone to combo with Snow-covered Mountain.
Put in Grindstone for extra mill power.
Thrumming Stone to experiment speed.
Worn Powerstone for extra mana ramp.

************************************************************************************

Wanted to try to use a M15 card, so, I decided to go with Kurkesh, Onnake Ancient. He mainly combos with Keening Stone to mill your opponent out of cards, in 2 turns.
Kurkesh also combos with 19 other cards.
So, 19 "stone" cards and 19 combo cards with Kurkesh.

************************************************************************************

How to Play

Win Conditions:

1) Kurkesh, Onnake Ancient + Keening Stone.
Wins within 2 Turns.

Example: Opponent has 5 cards in his library. Tap Stone and pay 1 red mana to Kurkesh and mill opponent; 15 cards 1st turn and 45 cards 2nd turn.

Game over in 2 taps/turns of Keening Stone.

2) Lodestone Myr + Kurkesh + Thran Weaponry (optional). Use all of your artifacts and Kurkesh's ability to pump up Lodestone Myr to massive levels.

Example: You have Lodestone Myr, Kurkesh, Weaponry, and Shield Sphere in play. You have 4 mana available. Tap Weaponry and pay 2 mana and pay 1 mana to Kurkesh to give Lodestone +4/+4. Now tap Shield Sphere and pay 1 mana to Kurkesh to give Lodestone +2/+2.

Now, Lodestone is 8/8 with Trample.

************************************************************************************

Cards/Combos that help your Win Condition:

1) Kurkesh and Armillary Sphere = 4 basic lands in your hand for 3 mana. Mana ramp.
2) Kurkesh and Elixir or Immortality = gain 10 life for 3 mana
3) Kurkesh and Mind Stone = mana ramp and/or 2 mana to draw 2 life. Mana ramp and drawing power.
4) Kurkesh and Pyrite Spellbomb = 4 damage to one target for 2 mana or draw 2 cards for 2 mana. Direct damage and drawing power.
5) Kurkesh and Thran Weaponry = Give Lodestone Myr and your other creatures +4/+4 for 3 mana! Or use it with Meekstone to keep all of your opponent's creatures tapped.
6) Meekstone/Weakstone/Thran Weaponry = Idea is to use Weakstone to reduce all of your opponent's creatures attack power by 1. Use Meekstone and pump up your opponent's tapped creatures with Thran Weaponry, and the outcome is that they will remain tapped.

************************************************************************************

Mana ramp: Armillary Sphere, Mind Stone, and Seething Song
Drawing power: Mind Stone, Pyrite Spellbomb.

Since Keening Stone and Kurkesh cost so much mana to win you the game, the mana ramp and the drawing power will go a long way in helping you.

Early Game: Mana Ramp/Draw and put out cheap/free Artifacts for chump blocking
Mid Game: Stall opponent with Meekstone/Weakstone/Thran Weaponry.
Late Game: Lodestone Myr pumped up and/or Keening Stone/Kurkesh Combo for the win.
************************************************************************************

Some cards that I can think off off the top of my head as far as artifacts go:
Lux Cannon
Contagion Engine
Titan Forge
Magistrate's Scepter
Trading Post
Mimic Vat

I'm sure there a slew of better ones, but these were ones I could think of off the top of my head.

Other good ones:
Armillary Sphere
Burnished Hart
Contagion Clasp
Isochron Scpeter
Oblivion Stone
Power Conduit
Phyrexian Processor

I can definitely see a proliferate based Kurkesh deck. :)

JESSIE:

If you want to timewalk with your ld I have just the suggestion:
Timesifter. With the manacosts in your deck it will be nice and will give you timewalking more often than my R/G gives me when I sb it. I use timesifter against decks that have better creatures than me or random fast stuff like burn. If you want to experiment with it, you should really add the elvish spirit guides to your deck.
Heres the "link" to my deck...

Questions: Between me and Puschkin:

Me:

Another question.
I have Kurkash out.
I have Keening Stone out.
My opponent has 10 cards in his graveyard.

I pay 5 mana and tap Keening stone. Plus I pay 1 mana to Kurkash to copy it. What happens?
Does my opponent mill 10 cards for each spell?
Or is it 1) Mill 10 cards for the 5 mana and 2) Mill 20 cards (since 20 cards would be in the library because of the first mill)? for the 1 mana?

In other words, Would it Mill my opponent 20 cards or 30 cards?

Puschkin:

30. It's two separate effects that resolve separately as if you would activate 2 Keening Stones.

Tell me what you guys think.
Did I do my Kidney Stone Justice?

What do you think of 19 stones in the deck...is that too many?
And Kurkesh...did I do him justice?
