Deck discussion for Snakes=Clever Deck Name

Should I take out Snake Basket, to make it Modern?

well, as good as it looks, the question is how much mana are you really going to be able to pump into it? If you don't think it will be more than... 4 then I would say to take it out and put in something else. However, if you think that its usefulness outweighs the fact that it limits the deck to eternal formats, (example: you can consistently and safely pump 10 mana into it.) then keep it.

I will have to play test it, honestly, because I have not played it. But i should have loads of mana to feed into it. But i will test it out.

Been on a deck building craze of late. Not really tested or focused too hard on any certain deck. I got the black control one down from 130 to 30 bucks, though. So...going to test play it first.

Would Divination pump up caotl once or twice?

twice. two cards drawn, so two triggers.

see, you would need cards that say whenever a counter is put on a creature draw a card

Okay. Took out Snake Basket, added in Divination. It is Modern Legal now...not that I worry about such stuff.

There are cards that say to draw when a counter is placed on it. But that doesn't help here since it only draws for itself and not other creatures having counters put on them.

seshiro, rhystic study, bred for the hunt, give/take, and doubling season. all cards that might help you out.

Will look into them.

My personal faves are give/take used with doubling season. Put 6 counters on lorescale, then remove them all and draw 6 cats, which puts 12 counters back on lorescale. Seshiro is a legendary snake that pumps all your other snakes.

So, I am guessing that you have or need to build a snake deck, kazzong. You seem to be on the right path, for sure!!

Didn't notice at first, so focused on the Snake Basket idea..that the lorescale card was so strong. But looking at it now, Howling Mine rocks with him.

But yes, since the Snake Basket is gone...i probably have too much mana ramp...and it could be replaced with some of the cards you suggested.

I really am so lazy...built dozens of decks in the last 2 months...and have tested very little of them, and haven't really even tried to make them better.

There are ways. They are just kind of... Unreliable from my experience.
And no I have never built a snake deck. :)

Yeah. Most places want money in order for you to play online. Others are illegal/unreliable.

Other ways like using Skype...or this website...is very tedious and impractical.
Possible...just tedious and impractical.

What i do, if i see a really good deck...that i think can beat one of my better decks is:
I use Magic Vault. I do sample draw on my deck and their decks. And I play both sides. Try to be fair. And see which one wins. But that is flawed...because they may play their own decks different than how I would.

yeah. I find that most of the time if you give two different people identical decks they will tend to play them differently. It all depends on personal style I think, and what a person is familiar with.

how bout on here , open 2 tabs , your deck, and a place to talk the decks out

it is still pretty clunky, and you really don't get a fair representation of how the decks actually play. :(
but it can be useful in determining if a deck will work at all.

I can't. I actually have to leave in about... 5-10 minutes. not enough time to try and play a game on here. :( otherwise I might. perhaps Jessie might?

I will honestly just have to play it by ear.
Between college, wife, and kids...it is hard to pen down a certain time. It is 1:00am here.
I am usually on at nights. Meaning, I am usually on around this time.
But I am sure we can find enough time to play a game.
