Deck Description

My Birthday is October 5th.
Going to be 31.
For my birthday, would love to see this deck make it to the top!

60 Dollar Casual Budget Deck.
It is not Legal in Vintage/Legacy.
So, not sure why it is showing up as Legal.
Magical Hack "hacked" they system? :)

*********************************************************************************

Main Card: Magical Hacker.
He can reverse -'s into +'s.
Planeswalkers included!

So, Hopping Automaton, Urza's Avenger, and Hyalopterous Lemure have:
Pay 0 mana: Get +1/+1.
Pay 0 mana: Get +1000/+1000
Pay 0 mana: Get +1,000,000,000/+1,000,000,000
Pay 0 mana: Get +1,000,000,000,000/+1,000,000,000,000
Pay 0 mana: You "get" the point.

So, with Magical Hacker in play, it is possible for Hopping Automaton, Urza's Avenger, and Hyalopterous Lemure to be 1 Billion offense, or even stronger.

Attack with your 1 Billion offensive creatures OR sack them to Rite of Consumption/Essence Harvest for an Instant Win. Plus you gain 1 Billion Life when you use Consumption/Harvest.

*********************************************************************************

Back up plan #1, if your opponent is beating you down.

Play Death's Shadow.
Magical Hacker will give him +X/+X instead of -X/-X.
Attack with Death's Shadow or sack him to Rite of Consumption/Essence Harvest.

Back up plan #2,

Play Jace, the Living Guildpact.
The -'s of Planeswalkers abilities turn into +'s with Magical Hacker!!!
So, his -3 and -8 abilities turn into +3 and +8.
He will bounce permanents, remove threats, and pump himself up to a powerhouse.

Back up plan #3,

Play Elixir of Immortality.
After gaining massive life, beating one opponent, with Rite of Consumption/Essence Harvest and Hopping Automaton, Urza's Avenger, and Hyalopterous Lemure, let your other opponents run out of cards! Use Elixir of Immortality to prevent yourself from running out of cards in your library. This is only necessary in emergencies or rare circumstances. :)

How to Play

Magical Hacker is key. Search him out with Muddle the Mixture.

Once he is on the board:
Play:

1) Hopping Automaton/Hyalopterous Lemure/Urza's Avenger
2) Attack or play Rite of Consumption/Essence Harvest

*********************************************************************************

Example: 1
Turn 1. Swamp. Dark Ritual. Hopping Automaton.
Turn 2. Island. Magical Hacker.
Turn 3. Swamp. Pay Island to Magical Hacker. Pump up Hopping Automaton to 1 Billion. Now pay 2 mana for Rite of Consumption on Hopping Automaton. You gain 1 Billion life and your opponent takes 1 Billion damage.

Good game.

Example: 2
Opponent has you down to 7 life.
Turn 2. Island. Play Magical Hacker.
Turn 3. Swamp. Dark Ritual. Pay Island to Magical Hacker. Pay Swamp for Death's Shadow, and he becomes a 20/20. Pay 3 mana for Essence Harvest on Death's Shadow OR pay 2 mana for Rite of Consumption. You gain 20 life and opponent loses 20 life.

Good game.

*********************************************************************************

Dark Ritual for the early mana ramp, with Magical Hack in play, Ritual adds very quick winning Combos. If your opponent has you beaten, a quick Dark Ritual Death's Shadow/Rite of Consumption is very unexpected.

Unearth gets you back Magical Hack and Hopping Automaton, your two best creatures in the deck.

Muddle the Mixture gets you Magical Hack into your hand. Search engine the winning piece.

Considering the 7 Rite of Consumption/Essence Harvest this deck can be single player or multiplayer.

Deck discussion for Turn Three 1 Billion Damage

Not bad but unhinged cards are pretty much the definition of unbalanced. I like using magical hacker with planeswalkers myself.

Which one would you add?

I do not play Planeswalkers...but Jace, the Living Guildpact looks nice.
The -3 bounce nonland permanent looks nice with Magical Hacker.
It acts as artifact/creature/enchantment hate. Plus, I love bounce.
And his -8 ability would almost guarantee me the win, since I draw 7 cards/combo pieces.

ashiok would work pretty well here. and be on the curve as well. but he is a bit expensive in $ so I guess that you don't really need a planeswalker. I just like the idea of ulting them and then they also get more loyalty for doing so.

Well looking at this new curve might i recomend lilliana of the dark realms? Or tezzeret the seeker? Lilliana for dumb amounts of mana ramp, tezzeret to just bring out those artifacts.

Well, we should merely base our decision on how cheap a planeswalker is and devastating her or his ultimate is. Jace, the Mind Sculptor will exile an entire library. Every version of Ajani will either win or make the game nigh impossible to win unless you plan on mill. Maybe infect. Of all of them, Vengeant and Caller of the Pride will trash an opponent quickly and cost the least. Vengeant = all your opponent's . Caller of the Pride = your life total in 2/2 tokens urprisingly,

Here's the full comment, dude;

-----------------------------------------------------------

Well, we should merely base our decision on how cheap a planeswalker is and devastating her or his ultimate is.

Let's get this straight - mos ANY planeswalker in combination with magical hacker is utterly broken and will likely win the game the turn they enter the battlefield or soon after. They will ult immediately.

Every version of Ajani will either win or make the game nigh impossible to win unless you plan on mill. Maybe infect. Of all of them, Vengeant and Caller of the Pride will trash an opponent quickly and cost the least. Vengeant = every opponent's lands are destroyed each turn. Caller of the Pride = your life total in 2/2 tokens.

Askiok is very potent. Firstly, she gains 10 loyalty and exiles everyone's hands. Ouch. Then she will proceed to play the most powerful creature turn 4, and utterly sweep the game by either continuing to exile cards or play powerful creatures for free.

Chandra is ... pretty bad in this case, surprisingly. Pyromaster is the best - she could do enough damage to kill a weakened opponent in one hit (with lava axe, no less). Plus, she rolls out turn 4.

Domri Rade will ensure your creatures are hasted, double striking, trampling monsters ... with hexproof to boot. He might just murder you, but his ult suffers from the fact that repeated uses are worthless.

Dack is incredibly powerful. True, his ult only goes of once ... but it's ridiculous! Simply pop him in a deck with multi-target burn spells and he's more powerful than Sorin! Since the emblem is his strength, killing him stops nothing once it goes off. Then, all your targeted spells steal permanents. Yikes!

Garruk is .. meh. He costs a lot. You could ramp into him ... but his ults just put creatures out. It WILL kill you quickly, but it's.just not ... soul-crushing.

Gideon Jura is okay but .... the reduced costs do jack for him. He does not have an ult!

Gideon, Champion of Justice ... wins. Hard. He enters the battlefield, murders everything, gains 15 loyalty counters, and proceeds to murder everyone. He doesn't need his first ability! When he activates his second ability, he is a 19/19. GG if you have a single 1 mana boosting spell and a land, or managed to do 1 damage to your opponent by turn 4.

Jace Beleren will kill you by mill exactly 5 turns after you have played him. Jace, Architect of Though will take the best card from each player's library and play it ... and repeat this every turn. I.e, he will take the tron's eldrazi, nab a free counterspell from the control player, take the planeswalker of the rich kid, and before he plays anything, wipe the board with a white removal spell or say ... cyclonic rift. Compared to this, the Mind Sculptor is lame. Powerful, yes, but awesome, no. Come on! Just think of how much fun it would be to try and come up with a game winning combo with one card from each opponent's library.

But I digress. More Planeswalkers!

Karn costs too much. By turn 7, virtually every other planeswalker will kill you.

Kiora gets a 9/9 kraken to attack the turn after she is summoned ... so turn 5, maybe 4.

Mr. Hammer (a.k.a. Koth) benefits you little. Basically, you have double mana from your mountains and get a ... disappointing burn spell. Really? 1 damage per mountain tapped? That's underwhelming. A freaking lava axe is more powerful, since you can copy it!

Liliana kills stuff. Except the Dark Realms variant, which gives you 4 mana per swamp. Proceed to cast [insert homicidal demon of choice here] and sweep.

Bolas does 7 damage, makes one discard 7 cards, and basically has annihilator 7. Great ... if you ever get him out! He costs 8 ... go ask Koth or Liliana of the Dark Realms for help ... but I bet they have better things to cast!

Nissa wins. Hard. She gives you ALL of your elves ... turn 4. Yup, that's right. I have 40 creatures on the field turn 4. Bet you wish you brought your board wipes! Same story with the worldwaker ... but now it's 4/4 trample creatures ... that are your lands.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Screw it! I went on to talk about each planeswalker, but here's the short version:

Ajani, Caller of the Pride and Tibalt, the Fiend Blooded are the most potent combo partners. Ashiok and Dack are close behind.

Looking at all the planeswalkers, I consider Sorin Markov and Jace, Architect of Thought to be the most fun and resilient combo partners. Coincidentally, they are blue and black!

Very nice, HokeyPokey!!!

Must of took over an hour to write all of that, thanks for the dedication.

I added a Planeswalker that helped with removal.
He bounces.
My favorite.

I sorta wanted to keep my win condition...so they Planeswalker I picked was more of a back up plan :)

But as you have pointed out, Magical Hack and Planeswalkers are broken!

Nuff said.

I really like Architect of thought .... such a creative ultimate. If anything, at least make winning fun. I know Ajani is efficient ... but he's really not that fun to use in this case.

And yep, Sorin would get +7, every turn, and your opponent would never get to play.

And his -3 ability would become a +3 ability, which would charge him up to 7, right?

And technically, Un-Cards are legal in Un-Sets Tourney play.

Okay. Man, that would be a screwy tournament. :D And it would be cheap, too, since un-cards aren't worth a whole lot.

Wow ... this magical hacker is broken. Completely and utterly. He is obviously secretly working for Johnny, Combo Player in an attempt to subvert the officials of Wizards of the Coast and send the entire Magic multiverse into a downward spiral of destruction by legalizing broken combos. I'm pretty sure the hacker doesn't work with Death's Shadow unless you're on low life anyway. His power modifier is a passive effect, meaning it works as long as he's on the battlefield. If you have more than 12 health when he hits the field he'll die as a state-based action before you can put anything on the stack.

0
Posted 03 October 2014 at 19:42

Yes.
You are right.
See my How To Play Section and Deck Description Section. I state as much.
It is my backup plan if I am getting my butt handed to me (i.e. I have low life).

If I have 7 life, Death's Shadow will come in as a 6/6 creature.
Pay 1 Blue mana to Magical Hacker, and Death's Shadow becomes a 20/20 creature.
Pay 2 more mana and play Rite of Consumption on Death's Shadow, for the win.

he is not my main card!!

Main card: Magical Hacker.
Main creature to play Hacker on: Hopping Automaton.

The other stuff is alternate win conditions, drawing power, removal power, life gain, and mana ramp.

Jessie, I just was thinking and i think you should put some persist creatures in here, if you have room, because the turn they die you change it to +1/+1 counter and next time they die it doesn't have a -1/-1 counter so it coes back and it never is gone, and triton tactics could be good, basically kill two things for 2 mana, it isn't part of any combo, i think but just super good. if you have time, would you mind checking out this new combo deck I made? :)

well as far as i can tell things don't enter the battlefield using another aether vortex, but they do leave it if i draw or shuffle. So im looking for leave the battlefield effects, honestly of any color, though red would probably be best.

the hulk thing is pretty good actually the question is how do i mill myself in mono red. Also its things that are on that battlefield that go to the graveyard count as dying right? Because that opens up a whole new world of self mill causing death triggers galore.

0

Only creatures can die. Only creature cards on the battlefield are considered creatures.

0
Posted 06 October 2014 at 02:35

Yet another Aether vortex says that you play with the top of your library revealed. That card if it is a permanant, it counts as being on the battle field and in play, as well as being on top of your library, at the same time. Also it gives permenants on top of your library haste. I'm only saying this because your comment makes it seem like you don't understand what it is that Yet another Aether Vortex does.

0
Posted 06 October 2014 at 02:38

You can mill in red I have seen it done with a very evil deck using Mindcrank and direct damage. Mill Hulk will not trigger, Protean Hulk states: When Protean Hulk is put into a graveyard from play, search your library for any number of creature cards with total converted mana cost 6 or less and put them into play. Then shuffle your library. It need to be placed in graveyard from play only, also exile will not allow Protean Hulk to trigger being not going to graveyard, hope this helps.

0
Posted 06 October 2014 at 02:45

I swear its like no one even reads what I write. Atleast they don't read the things that are important. Such as my explanation of how that would work. Another Aether vortex says the card on top of your library is revealed and that card is in play. Thus Milling, I beleive, would trigger death triggers. Does anyone have any evidence that it would not work that way.

0
Posted 06 October 2014 at 02:54

I can read, just read it incorrectly, I'm Sorry! But, looking up Yet Another Æther Vortex, yes Protean Hulk is considered in play being on top of the library as stated, so milling would take affect putting a creature into your graveyard from play.

When it says that permanents on top of your library are in play, that's exactly what it means. If the top card of your library is a Forest, you can tap it, you can sacrifice it to whatever, and your opponent can Stone Rain it. If the top card of your library is a creature, you can attack with it, block with it, play its abilities, or sacrifice it. If the top card of your library is a local enchantment, state-based effects put it into your graveyard immediately since it's in play without being attached to a permanent. When the top card of your library moves to a different zone (you drew it, you sacrificed it, it got destroyed, whatever), its leaves-play abilities will trigger. The new card that's revealed as the top card of your library does not trigger comes-into-play effects. Let's discuss what happens when a card with an “as this card comes into play” effect is revealed as the top card of your library. Or a card with a “this card comes into play with a +1/+1 counter on it” ability. Or one that says it comes into play tapped. Or what happens when a card lets you sacrifice any number of permanents and you want to sacrifice your entire library one card at a time. There thats what I have gotten on this card and too much typing on my part.

0
Posted 06 October 2014 at 03:10

Hmmm .... would the other carss be considered as revealed in turn? Of course it would work! Just .... waiting till turn 5 might take a long time.

In addition, this card does not trigger enters the battlefield effects, only leaves the battlefield effect ... it has a built in topor orb!

Yep, Topor Orb shuts it down with or without Yet Another Æther Vortex. Might as well run Flash and Protean Hulk to play him, down side Flash is banned in Legacy (AKA Protean Hulk deck) and Restricted in Vintage but, kitchen table legit.

The Unhinged FAQ (http://www.wizards.com/magic/tcg/article.aspx?x=magic/faq/unhinged) says that this triggers "leaves play" effects, but not "comes into play" effects ("enters the battlefield", now). So I'd assume that a Ball Lightning would be sacrificed at the end of the turn you reveal it.

The FAQ also says that creature enchantments are revealed, considered to be in play, and sacrificed because they aren't enchanting anything before you have a chance to do anything with them. Likewise, I think the same would be true of planeswalkers. They are sacrificed as a state-based effect when they run out of loyalty counters, right? Loyalty counters are put on them when they enter the battlefield, but remember, cards on top of your library don't trigger "enters the battlefield" effects with this. So a planeswalker or creature enchantment would be revealed and immediately sacrificed. That's pretty powerful.

the point is to play a janky unhinged card guys. Not to play Hulk flash and curbstomp people. If turn 5 is a problem, then why not say . . . run seething song? Actually I'm doing that. Along with Madblind Mountain, some elixers of immortality, just need to keep thinking about how I'm going to roll this. Maybe ill play red blue.

gotta remember no enter the battlefield effects. Since enter the battlefield aren't triggered by Yet Another Aether vortex. So bogardan hellkite probably isn't a great choice. You don't have to worry to much about colors since you are literally playing out of your library. Which leaves you with some deck restrictions. At the same time, there are so many unhinged cards that are awesome to build around. I've always been tempted to build something around ambiguity. I've just never been 100% sure exactly what it does. According to a comment on the gatherer it counters spells after things get counters and puts counters on permanents after spells get countered. That being said I'm not sure that is the only way the card can be read.

How exactly are you going down to 12 life for Death's Shadow to actually work?

0
Posted 05 October 2014 at 22:32

It's a backup plan.

Jessie will have less than 12 life when the phyrexian dreadnought punches him in the face turn 2 with the help of topor orb and dark ritual. Heck, it's gg if the opponent has tainted strike and another dark ritual in hand.

And a good way to use Magical Hacker.

I am missing something...lol?
Sorry. Been a long day.

Had an awesome birthday today with the children.
My mom/stepdad took my family out to eat at a local restaurant.
Stepdad gave me some, very unexpected but needed money, to take my family out, so we went to Jekyll Island. Showed the kids the Sea Turtle Center where they rehabilitate injured turtles. My two year old son adored them. Especially the Eastern box tortoises. I want one, but they are illegal to own in Georgia, so I have to settle with a Sulcata Tortoise.

On the way home, from a great day, is when my wife bursts out in tears while staring at her phone. Her grandfather had passed away today. She is currently on the phone with her grandmother :( Tough stuff.

Anyways, yeah, not sure about the joke.

3 Lemures and 2 Shadows instead of 2 Lemures and 3 Shadows.

But if you get hit by a 13/13 trample infect creature turn 2, you lose. You need a creature with at least 4 toughness, and I am pretty sure no one-drop can achieve that in one turn. Playing death's shadow is a moot point.

0

The entire point of putting tainted strike on the phyrexian dreadnought is that it is ridiculous and it won't happen unless it does, which it probably won't but if somehow it does than you lose, but it won't unless it does. :)

........................................... what?

0
Posted 06 October 2014 at 03:06

The main thing is, 99.724561937% of the time it won't happen. A way to practice reading comments like that one is to learn what ambiguity does. :)

0
Posted 06 October 2014 at 03:11

Hmm ... putting tainted strike on a massive creature is far from implausible with careful crafting of a deck. Eater of Days and Leveler work just as well. And Hushwing Griffon acts as a secondary topor orb.

0
Posted 06 October 2014 at 03:19

Thing is, it doesn't happen because it won't but when it does happen it will, which will not be enough to be worth playing, unless you find it ridiculous and fun, which would be the only benefit from playing it.
It's not played like that, and the Death's Shadow will get -20/-20 when you've only been dealt damage by creatures with infect (which absolutely doesn't matter if you're dead, but at the same time, you won't be dead, because Tainted Strike isn't a thing).

0
Posted 06 October 2014 at 04:26

Fine ... I shalt make tainted strike a thing ... but since it's not ... :D

I don't really like death's shadow either, but it is pretty inventive.

And ... tainted strike can also save you from lethal damage, as long as the source is power 9 or less. Just because no one sees infect as anything more than an aplha-strike wonder, does not mean it can't be used in other, inventive ways.

Also ... tainted strike is undeniably an asset to topor orb decks with tons of massive creatures.

Happy B-Day, this deck reminds me of a game I was watching. This guy plays a Ass Whuppin' then a Glamerdye card states: (Destroy target silver-bordered permanent in any game you can see from your seat). He changed Silver-bordered to Black-bordered then he destroyed a Griselbrand at another table that was about ready to kill another guy. We all laughed and the guy at the other table was such a good sport he destroyed his Griselbrand and ended up losing the game, but said it was one of the best plays he had ever seen.

Not sure.
I have made so many decks now, already.

Plus, I try to be original when I post a deck.

I spent 3 hours last night making a deck...only to do a deck search to see someone else had built a very similar deck to mine...so I erased mine!

If I can find any un cards that people haven't already made 200 decks with, I might try.

If you want to look at my new, semi-original, interesting casual deck:
