Deck Description

"The game is up."
William Shakespeare, Cymbeline

Trying to be original.

I love literature and Flavor Text...so, I thought, I wonder how many William Shakespeare quotations can be found throughout Mtg?

The answer is: 21cards. 4 white, 5 blue, 4 black, 2 red, and 6 green.
6 Creatures, 4 Enchantments, 7 Instants, and 4 Sorcery cards.

This is my attempt at using as many cards in Mtg, that have Flavor Text from William Shakespeare's plays.

At least give me credit for trying something different.

Going to go with Blue/Green.
And see where it takes me :)

Sideboard has the remaining cards that have William Shakespeare quotes as their Flavor Text.

How to Play

Win Condition:
1) Wake Thrasher/Early Harvest combo. Thrasher can be a 15/13 Trample creature on Turn 3.
2) Wolverine Pack/Rancor combo (back up).

Tidings for draw power.
Naturalize for Artifact/Enchantment.
Boomerang for disruption of tempo and combos.
Winter Blast for stall/creature hate/to make your creatures go through unblocked.
Arbor Elf/Utopia Sprawl/Early Harvest provides mana ramp while pumping up Wake Thrasher.

Final Thoughts:
22 cards with William Shakespeare Flavor Text...not too shabby.
Deck is casual and under 40 dollars.

Deck discussion for Will Shakespeare Flavor Text

Tell me what you think...at least points for being original, right?

Whom next, Yeats, Blake, Edgar Allan Poe, Dante, Faulkner?

This is very, very cool. I don't really have much else to say...Very cool man. This gets the SWN stamp of approval (Which I guess is a...smiley face? I dunno).

Thanks...but do you think it can actually win a game every once in awhile, that is the hardest thing to do with a theme deck...make it to where it has a chance at winning.

I wanted to do an Edgar Allan Poe deck...but there were only 5 cards!
I still say a Literary EDH deck could be done.

Do you have a favorite writer? Writers?

Using Shakespeare for romantic lines is akin to naming a boat the Titanic. Bad juju.

Surewhynot suggested that too.
I could look up lots and lots of authors and see what list I could come up with.

If I do that, would you be interested in the list?
You are very good at making EDH decks. So...if I gave you a list of cards with Flavor Texts from famous authors, I am sure you could come up with something good!

They are very tricky...especially if you try to make the deck not look forced.
Any famous authors, that you like in particular?

I'll start on a list soon.

mabey yu should try to use artists not writers. that seems to be a more consistent, and far more easily attainable deck.

I really try very hard to make original/different/unique/themed decks.

I have a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle deck.
A Lions, Tigers, Bears Oh my deck.
And a few others.

I would love for someone to make a Literary EDH deck.
A deck with nothing but cards that have famous author flavor text.
I am making a list.
Have about 60 cards on the list, by various famous authors.
