Deck Description

How cheap can I be??

Can win by turn 4 with a great draw and should win by turn 6 on a regular basis!

would love some help for my other T2 deck I'm currently running at FNM. It's a mono green ramp that's brutally hard hitting. Thanks http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=274397

I'd like to get into T2 but it's expensive to keep up with plus no one in my play group really plays T2 i mean we al have at least one T2 deck but we hardly ever play them and i love using all my cards that ive been collecting since around original ice age when I go to make a deck.

Thats exactly why I made this deck. I'm usually just a casual player as well, but I wanted to try my hand at FNM without breaking the bank.

Yah man I have most of these cards except the goblin fireslingers which I want for my warrior deck too so I might try to pick some up. I've been wanting to check out FNM as well but usually busy partyn I'm gonna make some more time for it soon because its a good place to meet new people to play aginst and people with trades as well !!! Tell me how this deck works for you and I might make it. GL

I love goblin grenade ^_^ Do you find the infiltration lenses useful?

0
Posted 23 December 2011 at 02:36

its pretty handy for filling my hand up after the initial purge plus it helps me have a better chance for the metalcraft on galvanic. The trick is to force your opponent to block, or take 4-5 damage.

0
Posted 23 December 2011 at 03:54

After more play testing I've decided that the lenses were ok but the Axe's and a couple burn spells were more consistent winners.

thank you my friend! you have answered my standard problem! i already have a lot of these because i play a few different goblin decks so i only will have to spend like $5! just wondering before i go and spend my money, is this deck consistent enough to beat some of the really popular decks? (solar flare, titans, vampires, werewolves, graveyard, etc)

0

It is very consistent winning vs. solar flare, illusions, bant pod, kessig ramp, titans, vampires etc. But to be honest I have trouble against GW aggro (humans mostly). Seems to be about a 1/3 win ratio vs that deck build. But hey, 10$ compared to a 300$ deck. I'd say its a pretty damn good value ;) Good luck link491.

my own version of my RDW was able to beat the solar flare 3 out of 5 games , and even the token deck murdered the tempered however bad draws sometimes cause the losing part and yeah before i forget walker deck beat me up 2 out of 3 games hahahahhaha. it feels bad however i never considered a game lost if the card that beaten me was a planeswalker move..... check out my rdw maybe it would help you.

or Incinerate or even better because Arsonist and Grenade are here put in Brimstone Volley, that would be 11 damage for 5 mana...

First play Arsonist, then sac it for Goblin Grenade, thats 6 damage, finally play Volley, because creature died, it deals 5 rather than 3 :)

Very good deck man and I'm thinking of having a goblins comeback myself. I'm glad grenade is back but sad about some good goblins cards got cycled out, however this deck is very solid for the price and I miss my old goblin deck.. Thanks for an awesome deck.. I will let ya know how i do after I test out my gf's deck at this week's FNM.

You should have something in there to search for the shrines to get them to the field faster. Other than that I think this deck is pretty awesome. I just might try to construct it myself.

what's your plan against arc trail, day of judgment, slagstorm?

seems like any removal (which everyone is packing these days) would stall this out pretty hard.

+1 for affordability, however.

If you're concerned about mass removal, you might consider running a few more artifacts and some Kuldotha Rebirths; make the deck a little more like old-fashioned KRed. If someone has a better idea, though, take it.

Tribal decks are usually weak in standard. This is no exception. It's a fun idea. Who doesn't love goblins?

Check out my standard goblin variation.

http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=249222

Maybe you'll see something helpful. Maybe not. Good luck winning an fnm though. As soon as they see what you have, they'll throw in 4 day of judgments and 4 timely reinforcements.

0
Posted 06 January 2012 at 01:14

Yes, because everybody sideboards 4 days and 4 timelys. So far through the past 4 FNMs i'veplayed I've had one day dropped and no timelys. They're really not used that much.

Normal RDW seems a lot stronger. Turn 6 win is not great for a red deck.

0
Posted 06 January 2012 at 01:56

I'll be the first to admit that this isnt the end-all be-all of standard. Just a fun deck that I could actually afford to put together. But to be honest I'm not uber competitive in magic, so this lets me have fun which is my main goal of the game. I'm glad everyone enjoyed the build :>)

1
Posted 06 January 2012 at 03:25

yah think so? i was only beaten once by a meta RDW, i don't think the normal RDW is as good as it gets.

0
Posted 09 January 2012 at 21:15

You may want to switch out the "Galvanic Blasts" for "Incinerates"

My reasoning is that since you only have 7 artifacts in the deck you'll rarely if ever see the metalcraft buff.

and for the price of 1 more mana you'll do consistently more damage and be able to get rid of pesky regenerate creatures should you have to.

Something to ponder about. Besides that, pretty well built deck. Good Job ^.^

1
Posted 06 January 2012 at 03:36

I'd advise that you put a sideboard together. If you need some ideas, here are a few:
1. Gut Shot. Gives you an answer to Inkmoth and various mana dudes.
2. Dismember. While costly in life, it will get rid of many big dudes you have to worry about.
3. Ancient Grudge. Gives you an answer to Tempered Steel and a second answer to Inkmoth.
4. Rootbound Crag. If you decide to use Ancient Grudge, it gives you the opportunity to flashback Ancient Grudge.
5. Blasphemous Act. A board wipe which will kill stuff bigger than 3 toughness. Use sparingly.
Hopefully, this gets you thinking a bit. :)

may i ask if you have considered spikeshot elder, instead of fireslinger?

0

I know people like that card, but 3 mana to do a few damage seems steep. What am i missing about him?

0
Posted 08 January 2012 at 23:45

you can activitate his ability when he comes into play, he can target creatures, he pwns illusions, and with your equipment, he takes quicker care of the opponent than foreslinger, and still is able to block...

but yes the 3 mana activation cost is the downside...

also have you thought about adding your dual lands to mainboard to free up some space in the sideboard?

What I'm not getting is why darksteel axe? Its a low mana cost to play but 2 to equip for a +2 just seems annoying, I think piston sledge would work better mainly because you only have 2-3 creatures you want to be swinging with and piston sledge is quick equipping, plus your opponent doesn't see it coming, if you have the axe ou, they might take into account the extra damage and leave a creature to block whatever you equip it to, plus piston sledge works so well with gaveleer, he becomes a 5/2 trample just with the sledge which is a devastating attacker on third turn

0
Posted 09 January 2012 at 20:09

do you have to sac an artifact to equip it or is that just the second time? Not a bad idea though...

0
Posted 09 January 2012 at 20:33

If your willing to spend a little extra i have some suggestions that you may wish to look at:

Livewire lash
+similar effect to the axe with some bonus punishment for someone playing with targeted removal
-slightly more expensive than darksteel axe. after seeing your first round people will likely sideboard in some mass removal

Strata Scythe
+great for monocolor/basic land decks like this one decent finisher if the game goes long
-pretty expensive mana wise probably just one of these

Chandra's Phoenix
+well worth the investment for any RDW. alot of decks just cant deal with a 2/2 flyer that just wont stay dead
-can be pretty pricey. very discouraging for budget players like us.

0
Posted 09 January 2012 at 23:57

I like the idea of livewire lash, going to test it instead of darksteel axe and see how it works.
Strata scyth does seem ok but like you said pretty high casting cost, I think if this is in play I'm probably already dead.
Love chandra's phoenix, but the $$ keeps it out. Definitely would make it better though.

Thanks for the comment you've given me somethings to try :)

None of my friends are really running any decks with creature hate. Shit, nobody's running any white really. This deck will blow shit up in our meta. I've been testing this for a few hours and I honestly wouldn't change a thing at the moment. Sideboard a few situational cards for sure but that's about it. Good job, I'll be purchasing the cards that I don't won on this list asap.

I used this last night at a tourney, without a side board. Playing against blue/black/white mix decks full of expensive cards.
Match one - I beat him in 2 straight
2nd match - I was beat the first 2 games, but barely, it was very close.
3rd match - i beat him in the first 2 games.
4th match - the guy had a really good deck, in the end Black sun's zenith smoked me, I lost 2 games straight.
5th match - I win again! Beat him in the 1st 2 games.
Like I said, I didn't use a side board, but I did change your original deck slightly, I added Red sun's zenith which saved my ass twice last night, ' Spikeshot elder " helped out alot at times.
All in all, I'd say this deck is great against most opponets, Black sun's zenith is a big problem though.
I love it and am definately going to keep using it. You can check out my version of this deck , maybe give me some pointers on what i should use to side board.
Thank you for this deck, it's awesome.

This is a very original take on Standard Goblins - I never would have considered building around Goblin Gaveleer. How competitive do you find this deck is? The price is certainly a huge benefit to this standard deck.

Hi. I love goblin too and I like what to see. I will make some changes and play with one goblin deck this Friday on FNM or Saturday on a qualify to GP Madrid. I had the Darksteel Axe but I will not run that, I think it's a waste of time and I will try to be very fast. I will run 2 a 4 Spikeshot elder instead of the Goblin Gavaleer. And 18 magics to burn in Hell my opponents :)
In sideboard I will take 4 Burn of the impure to play against infect (it's a 2on1), 3/4 cards against artifacts, 3 vulshok refugee against red, maybe dismember and something to burn lands melt terrain or ghost quarter. I'm thinking in ratchet bomb for the tokens, but I can only have 15 in SB ;)
