Deck Description

Standard legal Dark Ascension Burning Vengeance deck

Self-mill a bunch of cards, then launch the flashbacks while Burning Vengeance is out. Grim Lavamancer cleans up what's left.

I know this deck isn't very original, but the idea was to keep it budget friendly. Even without snapcasters and other big-boy cards, it is still quite competitive.

I was originally going to try and keep it Innistrad-Block only, but I couldn't resist trying out the Lavamancer while he is still in Standard.

Deck discussion for Lavamancer's Vengeance

I think Lavamancer is quite counterproductive here. You wanna cast things from your graveyard not exile them, right?

Actually, quite the contrary. Enevitably with the self mill cards, I will be milling lands and creatures or otherwise useless cards into the graveyard. Lavamancer basically puts every card in the graveyard to use, whilst speeding up the damage of the deck. After playtesting a bit, I have found him to be extremely effective.
