Deck Description

I am making a standard deck to use in a tournament based off a limited card base. I wanted to do esper but no legal dual lands is killing the idea. I am using the thought of mass creature attack to keep the pressure. Again something to help with stopping or repopulating after a board wipe would be nice. I am working on some sideboard options right now.

How to Play

Use inexpensive cmc creatures to get fast boost from exalted. Use the tormented soul to get past blockers and use bats, mark of vampire, and nighthawk to gain life. Don't drop everything at once to help against creature destruction and board wipes. Use some control from the sideboard if needed.

a playset off ebay is at $20. It is nice, I just don't have any. If I come across them, then I will pick them up. I think the value of the champion would increase if it was unblockable. Tormented soul has hit pretty hard with the dozen of matches so far.

Ok. Think about Arrest instead of Pacifism, and think about Sign in blood instead of Rootborn defenses. Exalted decks have trouble getting the last few points of damage, and those cards would help you reach past that point.

I forgot about Arrest. I was digging around late last night and trying to see some I might have missed. I am also looking to keep the price reasonable since I don't normally do standard tournaments. I want to make three decks for my boys and I to play in an upcoming tournament. I do have arrests and sign in blood, but I didn't buy a lot of the last 4 sets. Rootborn does help vs a board destroyer, wich I think is exalted worst case.

Well if your looking for budget decks, I have two that I built that you might be interested it. Minus the duals lands, which I just have in there because they are on color, the decks are around 20 bucks each. Take a look. They're the Red/Blue decks. Flash back and Krenko. Your boys might like them. I also have a W/B Aggro Enchant deck that might be fun for you guys to run too, and its another cheap deck.

My original thought was, like yours, to have more control added in. I am going to see how many cheaper cmc control I can find.

Thanks Derago, I think I have most of the mainboard for the flashback. I haven't even looked at enchantments, artifacts or lands for the exalted yet either.

You really really want to add control in your main deck, and a lot of it if your FNM environment is anything like mine. I run 4 o rings 4 murders and 4 tragic slips. I played a deck like your current build, and I went 1 and four in my first fnm standard. I added the control and went 4-1 last week. if you have them add 4 illness in the ranks to the sideboard. it helps against esper decks with the lingering soul chump blockers.

Thanks for the input. I wasn't sure if a lot of creatures with something like grave purge would get past control. I am thinking of splashing red or blue for use of charms.

Another thought I might do is Blood artist and something with a sac trigger. Everytime a board wipe comes then sac all for blood artist. It would draw some removal spells away from other creatures.
