btw this is not stompy, and you should definitely change the deck type to creature-based or something else more suitable.
you could still cut this decks land count down to like 21, or even 20. bring both your asceticism and terra eternal down to 3 each, and put in 4 vines of vastwood, or withstand death. also you have way too many plains in this deck. 40 - 8 , but youre still rocking the color split almost right down the middle. you could drop the amount of white land by a lot and still be safe, but no lower than like 6, definitely. if you wanted to bring it out of standard, id suggestion path to exile, but otherwise go with my previous suggestions.
the legendary angel, Iona. shed go nicely in here, though you have too many creatures perhaps, and not enough noncreature spells to help control the table.

personally all i would add are 3 or 4 more artifacts, and id be set with this deck. good show sir!

haha youre right, our decks are very similar, but thats cool though. great minds think alike. sign in blood isnt a bad idea at all, i might consider putting them in Death Squad

the only problem i have with this deck is that you could stand to cut your land down by a lot. if youre running a single colored deck with nothing but 1 drops, you could almost bring the land right down to 16, or 17 which in this case wouldnt be a bad idea. that way youll have space for more 1 drops.
i vote for sorin because if youre going mono black, hes ten times better than vess is, and he only costs one black more... his abilities are great - damage and lifegain, you can bring yourself back up to ten from a lower life, or reduce your opponent from a high lifespan down to almost nothing, and sorins last ability is just crazy with proliferate because now you can pump him back up fast and continually control opponents turns... if thats not a reason why sorin is better than vess, than i dont know what is.
