Deck discussion for turn 3 win infect

There is no way this is a Turn three win. when you hit a player with infect it gives them 1 poison counter not 1 per 1 damage dealt.

no, its 1 per 1 damage dealt

yes, this is also why you only have to deal 10 infect counters to win. Although this deck could be faster and more consistent. Check out my infect deck.

no you are right when a cretaure with infect hits a player it doesn't matter if its power is 1 or 100 its still only dishes out 1 posion counter but as for wither which is the other side of infect power matters

@coregamer21

You are wrong,1 damage with infect to a player is 1 poison counter. So 5 damage with infect and double strike to a player is 10 poison counter.

agreed card reads in the form of poison counter(S) not or gives player a poison counter plus theres loads online ref it.

I would add in say, Ichorclaw Myr because it brings the infect creature total up, and is more likely to not get blocked. The best pump spells right now for green and black are Vines of the Vastwood, Vampire's Bite, and Virulent Swipe... I would suggest replacing llanowar elves and adding more land, because you don't particularly need much mana to get this to work.

turn 1 forest, lanawar elf, turn 2 swamp plague stinger, turn 3 forest, and any combo of green pump, it is turn three and yes I'm still working on improving it.

I took the comments into consideration vampire bite I should have totally known to put that in as my girlfriend uses it in her vampire deck against me>.> and I feel ichorclaw myr is a good addition as well, I'm going to keep lanawar elves because its a way to get 2 land down in 1 turn essentially.

i like the concept, it works much better than my infect deck idea.
Is there a card that lets you sacrifice a creature, and the wording is that the CREATURE does damage equal to its power/toughness to a player? if there is, this would make an EXCELLENT addition to this deck, so long as it is a 1 or 2 mana card.
i do like this, i will be modeling my deck off of it...i just need to think of wat to do with my Skithirix, Contagion Engine, and Hand of the Praetors...XD

This is like half the infect decks on the site, and not very original. I've made a deck like this in real life with just spare cards and its easily beaten. And guess what happens when you don't get plague stinger until like turn 5? Your screwed.

0

I have this deck in real life, not exactly but with what the cards I own, and when I don't get a plague stinger I get a vector asp, my best friend and girlfriend have trouble winning much atal against this deck unless they are playing black in which case my creatures just get burned with doom blade or tendrils of corruption or gatekeeper of malikar etc etc.

0

whispersilk cloak? defeats the purpose of this deck, better off going with infiltration lens. more cards = more options, whisper's tak to long to get attached, and then you can't even target your creatures with your effects. Your better off throwing in either the lens or draw power like sign in blood. or protection like ascetism, if you give your opponent time with an infect deck, especially if they run red, you've already lost. And if you do keep it like this for tourny play, expect to side in a couple corpse curs, because a lot of your stuff won't stay on the field for too long.

You're welcome my man! The only thing is Golgari is slow, slow, slow, and this deck is supposed to be fastfastfast.

Someone recommended Amulet of Vigor to me a while ago... 1 colorless mana and all permanents you control enter the battlefield untapped. I haven't play tested it yet, but you could potentially swap out all your basics for tap lands and be in really good shape.

Think Llanowar Reborn, Vivid Marsh, Vivid Grove, Everglades, and Terramorphic Expanse...
Also, there's a fun little trick with Golgari Rot Farm and Llanowar Reborn:
T1: Llanowar
T2: Land, 2cmc creature, give them the +1/+1 counter
T3: 2cmc card (like Livewire Lash or Doomblade), drop Golgari and return Llanowar
T4: Llanowar again, any creature in your deck, give them +1/+1 counter

And that set up was without Amulet of Vigor...

0
Posted 06 January 2011 at 03:13

well, you SAY that Golgari is slow, but it really isn't. all you have to do is bounce a land you have already tapped, and you haven't slowed your mana in any way.

How do you only have 45 cards in this deck? 15 lands is enough for you? Other than that though GOD THIS DECK IS AMAZING! Wanna take a look at mine to see what I can fix? Especially if you can come up with some green removal...

a normal deck should consist of 1/3 mana

0
Posted 05 January 2011 at 21:29

There is no normal amount of mana. If you run no mana rush and high mana creatures, you need more than 1/3 mana. If you use only 0-2 mana creatures, you don't even need 1/3rd. etc.

guys i'm sure that if you hot with a 1/1 and pump it to a 4/4 as the player takes the damahe they get x 4 poison counters as damage is delt normaly in the form of -1 -1 counters .

0

Why not use Invigorate? It's only the best pump out there for infect decks. Just have your opponent gain 3 life and hit for 4 poison counters extra.

http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=132121

i like running vendetta and smother rather then doom blade in here. u have a turn 1 drop in vendetta to smack down their birds or llanowar and the life loss will be minimal in the early game, which your aiming for anyway

0

I dropped the doomblades and 1 giant growth to add 4 invigorates beautiful card, and i dropped 2 ichor rats and put in 2 blight dragons, now I know those cards are expensive but my girlfriend happened to have 2 that she wasnt using so until she wants them back they were free for me to use, otherwise I would not have listed an 18 dollar card. and I will check out starcitygames when I have some more free time, thank you everyone who has made suggestions and comments, aswell as everyone that liked it as of now im at 127 likes:)

Derp. Vines of vastwood in place of invigorate and lose the ravnica lands and boop, its a competative standard format deck. maybe think about adding a bit of draw/mana ramp with explore. And flying spellbomb to launch the infected that don't have flying already. maybe think about nighthaze for the sideboard to straightup give them swampwalk and draw a card for one mana.

I dont plan on making this tournament legal I don't compete, mostly because the first tournament i played in I was a newbie and just about everyone cheated as a result just because they could get away with it, and it wasn't even a big tournament it was a sealed deck draft winner got like 4 booster packs woooo. Maybe someday I'll compete in a different area but as of now I only play casually, I hate cheaters.

The title is a bit misleading as it's "turn 3 wins" requires a huge amount of luck on draws (You NEED 1 forest, 1 swamp, 1 Lanowar, 1 Stinger or Myr, 2 of either Groundswell or Invigorate and 1 other pump) the chances of you drawing the exact cards needed and not getting anything removed/countered are pretty low, I'd say almost non existent. With the amount of Mana Leak and Lightning Bolts being played it'll never happen.

That being said it's still a powerful deck and will usually win on turn four. I would take out Vector Asp, they really don't fit with your strategy and cost too much early on to pump them for early infect too. Usually you want to play your turn one with a Llanowar so a turn one Asp is kind of out of the question in most situations. I would add more land, your going to be forced to redraw so much with only 15 lands .

0
Posted 08 January 2011 at 15:45

well most decks its actually impossibly to win before turn 4-5, and yes with an equally competitive deck it probably wont win untill turn 5. I get the potential for a turn 3 win probably 1 outa 5 games, which I think is pretty good, and the vector asps are 1 bangers in the event a lanawar isnt in my hand at the beginning of the game. I may take some of the vectors out for some doomblades however. The land many people have commented on sence this is a 45 card deck 15 lands is the same as 20 for a 60 card deck, it works and I almost never need to mulligan

0

This deck needs moar Blight Mamba. You might also want to include some cards like Vines of Vastwood, Canopy Cover, or Whispersilk Cloak to protect your monsters/allow them to bypass other creatures. Livewire Lash would also be a good addition.

0
Posted 09 January 2011 at 00:16

Vines of Vastwood pretty much makes any infect deck with Green go; it's significantly better than Giant Growth.

To bring the deck up to 60, I'd add in more creatures (Hand of the Praetors) and drop the Vector Asps for Ichor Rats, and add in some black meta; Duress and Doom Blade are both great cards to add in. I'm not really sure on the Extended format, but def. need Ichor Rats in this deck, and Hand is actually a better card than Skittles in a fast deck.

0
Posted 09 January 2011 at 11:14

whispersilk cloaks prevent me from buffind my creatures. vines of vastwood cost 2 to get +4+4. Skittles is only in their for if my small stuff gets doombladed early on, or the game is delayed. I find ichor rates are to expensive for a 1/1 even tho its an infect counter for playing them, I generally build 45 card decks, because your have higher chances of drawing what you need. vector asps are in their for a 1 drop if i dont get a lanawar elf, the doomblades I still may squeeze in their at some point
